Gender Gap Closing in WA Real Estate Industry

According to the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia, the number of women working in the real estate industry is edging closer to that of their male colleagues.

A breakdown of REIWA’s membership showed that almost 50 per cent of ordinary members, which are defined as agency principals or licensees, are female. Additionally, there are 3,685 female sales representatives across the state compared to 4,293 male.

In property management there are more than five times the number of females than males.

REIWA CEO Neville Pozzi said the numbers speak for themselves, particularly in the field of property management.

“Our membership shows that the gap between males and females working in the industry is closing, almost to the point where the gap doesn’t exist,” Mr Pozzi said.

“When you look at the contribution women make to the industry, particularly in property management, the local real estate industry in WA is ahead of the game when it comes to gender equality.

“As the peak body for the real estate profession in this state, we support gender equality and have a strong representation of women on our board as well as in management positions across the business.”
