Elite AgentOPINIONTECH + SOCIAL

The social media accounts we’re following right now

Who says social media has to dumb you down? Give these accounts a follow and be prepared boost your knowledge, supercharge your skill set or simply be inspired this January.

To kick off the year we’ve taken a small selection of the social media accounts that kept us engaged over the holiday break.

It’s not a comprehensive list and and we plan on keeping you fully across the latest and greatest social accounts we’re clicking ‘follow’ on as the year progresses.

The real estate pros

It wouldn’t be an Elite Agent list if we didn’t give a shout out to the agents and other real estate professionals at the top of their social media game right now.

We’ve selected each of these profiles for the unique way they’ve chosen to engage their target audience.

Lisa Novak, Director, Novak Properties

Why are we following? Lisa’s posts show that her finger is on the pulse when it comes to Sydney’s real estate market.

Whether it’s offering sneak peeks of upcoming listings, drumming up interest for off-market opportunities or simply providing updates on the situation on the ground, she’s got it covered.

Along with her advice for buyers’ adapting to current market conditions, we’re a particular fan of her quick check-in following a Saturday morning inspection and love her posting consistency (as well as her classic ‘Okay guys’ intros).

Ella Cas, Property Acquisition Consultant

Why are we following? Sometimes a trawl through the #property pages of TikTok turns up an absolute gem, and that was certainly the case with Ella Cas.

As well as offering insider tips on how to make a savvy property acquisition she does an amazing job of breaking down some of the complex economic and policy news that affects the property sector.

Talisha Buttsworth, Property Manager, Island Sands Property Management

Why are we following? It’s not the first time Talisha has graced the pages of Elite Agent, but her social presence has grown substantially in the ensuing years.

Her profile hits the perfect mix between insider tips and educational content, and is super relevant for both landlords and tenants, as well as other agents.

We love her hilarious anecdotes about what it’s really like to be a PM in the current market, as well as her well-considered advice for tenants and landlords that ranges from explaining the rental bond process to her top tips for securing a rental property.

Jimmy Burgess, CEO, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Beach Properties of Florida

Why are we following? Jimmy Burgess is a big player in the US market, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have some useful advice for agents operating Down Under.

From offering video content ideas that’ll help you stand out from the crowd to guiding your goal setting, Jimmy offers slick advice for those on a mission to grow their business.

The motivators

Tom Ferry, Real Estate Coach

Why are we following? If you’ve been an Elite Agent reader for even a short while this is likely not the first time you’ve heard us mention Tom Ferry (it’s safe to say we’re big fans).

He’s a real estate coaching extraordinaire who commands a big audience on the stage as a keynote speaker, but it turns out a short 15 second snippet is all Tom needs to leave us feeling inspired and pumped for the day ahead.

Chelsea Peitz, Coach and Speaker, Chelsea Peitz Consulting

Why are we following? We could just have easily popped Chelsea in with our ‘marketing maestros’ profiles, given her heavy focus on social media strategy, but we think her energy and enthusiasm means she belongs on the ‘motivators’ list too.

Her updates are big on practicality but also filled with heart, and have us constantly coming back for more.

The marketing maestros

Because it helps to have some expert guidance in the rapidly changing marketing space.

Sam Despo, Agency Owner, Paid Ads Agency/Zesty

Why are we following? Heard of ChatGPT but have no clue how it integrates into your current marketing workflow?

That’s where following an account like Sam Despo comes in handy.

We’re a fan of the way he succinctly explains the real-world benefits of some of the latest new technologies and points you in the right direction when it comes to helpful tools that will save time and improve productivity.

Joel Maher, Marketing Director, Scale Up Digital

Why are we following? Joel offers specific advice for real estate brands who are looking to increase their social presence.

Whether it’s guidance on using video to produce leads, how to build trust with potential clients online or prospecting during holiday break, his short, sharp video updates have you covered.

We love that he’s got a background in the real estate industry too.

Katie Lance, CEO and Co-founder, Katie Lance Consulting

Why are we following? Just starting out building your social presence and no idea where to begin? Do yourself a big favour and give Katie a follow.

We love the way she takes seemingly daunting tasks like doing a piece to camera and makes them feel within your grasp.

We also love her down to earth personality and her passion for making real estate agents work smarter, not harder.

Jimmy Mackin, CEO, Curaytor

Why are we following? Jimmy Mackin says he’s on a mission to become the most useful person to follow in real estate and, judging by his posts, he’s well on the way.

From recruitment advice to how to lead generation, we love the way he challenges us to reject the norm and think about how to do things differently.

The data gurus

We all know data is important, but finding someone who can break it down in a way that’s fun and easy to digest can sometimes prove a hard task.

That’s not a problem with this data-driven influencer.

Simon Kuestenmacher, Director and Co-founder of The Demographics Group

Why are we following? Sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words… If it’s a picture of a graph, that is.

That’s why we’re such great fans of data and demography expert Simon Kuestenmacher’s Twitter profile.

Barely a day goes by without Simon tweeting out a new graphic sourced from somewhere in the world that sheds new light on the way in which we live, the challenges we (as a global population) are facing, or the way in which humanity is changing.

The design lovers

Because who doesn’t love letting their imagination run wild while looking at dream properties?

The Local Project

Why are we following? Ever find yourself flipping through high-end listings on the listings portals and thinking to yourself ‘If only’?

If that sounds like you (and no judgement here, because it’s totally us) then do yourself a favour and give The Local Project a follow.

We love the way they profile a diverse range of local architecture and give a shout out to the designers and architects behind each property.

Forgotten Sydney

Why are we following? It can be easy to lose sight of the fact that Australia’s patchwork-like architecture is what makes our cities so unique – especially when you walk past the same building every day without giving it a second thought.

Doing its best to rekindle our interest in these gems from our architectural past is Forgotten Sydney.

We love the way each post provides an in-depth insight into the people and the philosophy behind each building, giving us a newfound appreciation for our neighbourhoods.
