Katie Cotton acquires Recruit RE and sets sights on smarter hiring for real estate

Real estate leader Katie Cotton acquires Recruit RE platform, aiming to transform how agencies find and retain talent through modernised recruitment strategies. "This is bigger than filling jobs, it's about building teams that can scale, perform, and thrive in an evolving market," she says.

Recruit RE, the specialist platform designed to tackle one of real estate’s biggest challenges, attracting and retaining great people, has been acquired by well-known real estate leader Katie Cotton from founder Kylie Walsh.

With agencies competing harder than ever for talent, the acquisition puts fresh focus on solving one of the industry’s toughest challenges: finding and keeping the right people.

Ms Cotton says the next evolution of Recruit RE will help agencies rethink how they approach recruitment, not as a reactive process, but as a strategic pillar of growth.

“Every real estate business is built on people. Every role matters, whether it’s an associate, property manager, or an administrator. Without the right people in the right seats, growth stalls,” she said.

“Recruit RE was created to address this, and now it’s about taking the platform further, making recruitment smarter, faster, and more aligned with the culture of each business.”

The platform, originally founded by Ms Walsh, was built to simplify the way real estate businesses connect with talent.

That vision remains firmly in place, but Ms Cotton brings with her a sharp focus on innovation, ease of use, and long-term value for both business owners and jobseekers.

With digital convenience now the norm, she believes the recruitment experience shouldn’t lag behind.

“We can book a holiday, order groceries, or have dinner arrive at our door with ease;  shouldn’t finding the right career opportunity be just as simple?

“Recruit RE is about modernising how talent and businesses connect, making the experience seamless, relevant, and efficient.”

Ms Cotton says Recruit RE’s current offering has already helped agencies streamline the hiring process, but she sees room to go further.

In the months ahead, the platform will undergo strategic enhancements, including upgrades to its technology, a deeper and more diverse talent pool, and tools designed to support not just hiring, but also onboarding, retention, and career progression.

“Kylie and her team have built a strong foundation for Recruit RE, and I’m grateful to be entrusted with its next chapter.

“The future of our industry depends on how we attract, develop, and keep great people. That’s where Recruit RE will lead the way.”

As real estate markets shift and competition intensifies, Ms Cottion says agencies can’t afford to rely on outdated hiring practices or short-term fixes.

For businesses to scale effectively and deliver standout service, recruitment needs to be smarter and more aligned with long-term strategy.

“This is bigger than filling jobs, it’s about building teams that can scale, perform, and thrive in an evolving market,” she says.

Under Ms Cotton’s leadership, Recruit RE is positioning itself as more than just a jobs platform, it aims to become a strategic partner for agencies that value culture, growth, and the long-term success of their people.

The platform will relaunch in October, with fresh energy and a clear vision for the future.Whether it’s helping a boutique agency find the right cultural fit, or enabling a growing network to streamline its recruitment and retention efforts, Recruit RE is designed to meet the modern demands of today’s real estate industry.
