AMLHUB uses comedy to demystify complex AML Reforms for real estate professionals

AMLHUB partners with comedian Jimmy Rees in an innovative video campaign that transforms complex anti-money laundering legislation into accessible content for Australia's real estate industry, which faces new compliance requirements under Tranche 2 regulations taking effect in 2026.

Sydney, Australia November 7th AMLHUB, Australasia’s leading Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and compliance platform, has launched a new brand video collaboration with well-known comedian Jimmy Rees, taking a creative and unexpected approach to explaining one of the most complex pieces of legislation to hit the real estate industry in decades.

With the passing of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Amendment Bill, thousands of Australian real estate agencies will soon fall under AUSTRAC’s expanded AML/CTF regime – known as Tranche 2.

These changes will bring sweeping new compliance obligations, including customer due diligence (KYC), risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring.

Communicating complexity in a way that resonates

“AML is not exactly a crowd-pleaser,” says Mindy Evans, Marketing Manager at AMLHUB Australia. “But it’s critical – and the challenge has always been making it understandable, relatable, and maybe even a little bit enjoyable to learn about.”

To tackle this challenge, AMLHUB partnered with Jimmy to bring humour and humanity to what can otherwise be an intimidating subject.

The video blends practical education with comedic storytelling to help real estate professionals understand what’s changing, why it matters, and how to prepare – without the jargon.

Evans explains, “The bill itself is over 1,000 pages long, and for busy professionals, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. This campaign uses humour to break down that barrier and show that compliance doesn’t have to be intimidating and if we can make people smile while helping them get it right, that’s a win”.

Bringing clarity – and a few smiles to compliance.

While light-hearted in tone, the campaign carries an important message: compliance is not optional, and while it can be complex, there are experts who can help.. The video forms part of AMLHUB’s wider education initiative aimed at helping real estate professionals prepare for Tranche 2 well ahead of the July 2026 enforcement deadline.

“Real estate businesses don’t just need software, they need understanding and support,” says Evans.

“This collaboration helps start that conversation in a way people will actually want to engage with.”

The brand video will be released across LinkedIn, YouTube, and AMLHUB’s digital channels this month, supported by webinars, guides, and resources tailored for the real estate sector.
