Top celebrity home sales for 2023 exceed expectations


In 2023, real estate markets across the globe saw an array of high-profile celebrity home sales, each reflecting the unique style and stature of its famous owner.

From Sir Elton John’s historic Atlanta residence to Bob Dylan’s stately mansion in Scotland, these properties not only symbolise luxury but also the personal histories of the legendary vendors.

According to TopTenRealEstateDeals, the following properties comprised the top celebrity homes for 2023.

Rod Stewart

Sir Rod Stewart, a London-born legend known for his distinctive voice and magnetic stage presence, listed his lavish Los Angeles residence for US$80 million. 

Spanning over three acres in the prestigious North Beverly Park area, the home boasts a flamboyant yellow exterior and a Las Vegas-style fountain, mirroring the singer’s charismatic personality.

The 2647sq m property features an impressive 13 bedrooms, two elegantly decorated sitting rooms with intricate mouldings, and a host of Old World treasures.

The grand foyer, adorned with ornate double doors, leads to a plethora of luxurious amenities, including a gourmet kitchen, a tea room, and a den with cozy fireplaces and loggias.

Wine connoisseurs will appreciate the dedicated wine room, while the sprawling dining room can comfortably seat 20 guests. 

The home’s bar, reminiscent of Europe’s finest taverns, features a large mirror and several oil paintings of Renaissance nudes. 

French doors open to a meticulously manicured garden and a covered loggia, ideal for outdoor entertainment.

Further highlighting the home’s opulence is a wood-panelled library, wood-inlay floors, and an additional green speakeasy bar, perfect for a nightcap. 

The property also includes a guesthouse, providing ample space for visitors.

Renowned comedy icon Jim Carrey, famous for his roles in Dumb and Dumber, The Mask, and Ace Ventura, listed his Brentwood estate for US$26.5 million.

The Canadian-born actor, celebrated for his dynamic performances and later acclaimed for dramatic roles in “The Truman Show” and “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” has decided to relocate to his vacation property in Maui.

Carrey, a two-time Golden Globe winner and author of an award-winning children’s book, had lived in this Brentwood residence for the past 30 years, before deciding to relocate to his vacation property in Maui.

In 2022, he hinted at taking a break from acting and even considered retirement.

This move to sell his long-time home aligns with these life changes.

The estate, nestled in the heart of Brentwood, has been a sanctuary for the actor, offering privacy and luxury.

It boasts exquisite features and sprawling grounds, reflecting the unique personality and successful career of one of the world’s greatest comedy stars.

In 2023, Gisele Bündchen acquired a 7.5-acre equestrian ranch located in Southwest Ranches, Florida.

The expansive property featured a recently renovated residence with nine bedrooms, alongside amenities such as soccer facilities, tennis courts, an infinity pool equipped with a hot tub and fountain water features, and 10 spacious horse stalls.

Public records reveal Gisele purchased the ranch for US$9.1 million.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

During their captivating twelve-year union, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, a high-profile celebrity duo, captivated global attention.

Their relationship began on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith, at a time when Pitt was still wed to Jennifer Aniston.

The pair, often in the limelight, had six children together and established various humanitarian foundations.

They tied the knot in 2014 at their French estate, Château Miraval, in Correns.

However, the couple, frequently featured in tabloid headlines, parted ways in 2016.

In 2006, amidst their time together, Pitt and Jolie bought a historic residence in New Orleans’ French Quarter.

The home was intended as a headquarters for their Make it Right Foundation, which focused on eco-friendly reconstruction of houses affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Following their separation, the mansion was eventually auctioned off in 2023, fetching a sale price of US$2.5 million.

Elton John, renowned as the most successful solo artist on the Billboard charts, has achieved over 50 Number 1 hits, seven Number 1 albums, and sold more than 300 million records.

Known for hits like Rocket Man, Crocodile Rock, and Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, John’s illustrious career includes two Oscars, a Tony, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II.

Following the completion of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, he has settled permanently at his estate in Windsor, England.

Subsequently, Elton placed his Atlanta condo, his American residence for three decades, on the market for US$4.995 million.

The property was promptly sold for US$7.2 million, about 45 per cent above the asking price.

Robin Williams

The San Francisco home of the late Robin Williams, a celebrated actor known for roles in Good Will Hunting, Good Morning Vietnam and Mrs Doubtfire, was listed for sale in 2023 by the Oscar-winner’s second wife Marsha Garces Williams.

The property, where they lived from the early ’90s until 2010, is on the market for US$25 million.

Styled as an Italian Renaissance Villa and constructed in 1926, the home underwent extensive remodelling under the couple, who preserved its original, irreplaceable building materials.

The fully walled and gated estate offers breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Pacific Ocean, and the San Francisco Bay, embodying a blend of historical elegance and personal history of the late actor.

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner

Just weeks before announcing their divorce, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner sold their Miami waterfront residence for US$15 million, turning a profit from the US$11 million they initially invested in 2021.

This luxury property, spanning 967sq m, is situated in the secure, guard-gated Bay Point community of Miami.

It features six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and a 28m private dock offering direct access to both bay and ocean.

The home is equipped with a chef’s kitchen, a separate entrance for staff, a cutting-edge spa, and a billiard room.

Additional amenities include an outdoor kitchen, a dual-sided bar catering to both indoor and outdoor entertainment, a pool and jacuzzi, and a distinct children’s pool, combining luxury and family-friendly elements.

After the assassination of President John F Kennedy, Jacqueline Kennedy acquired the 18th-century Baker House in Georgetown as her new residence.

However, due to excessive public and paparazzi attention, she relocated after a year.

The Federal-style mansion, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has been home to notable figures such as Georgetown Mayor Thomas Beall, Secretary of War Newton D Baker, and former Miss America Yolande Fox.

Recently, it was merged with two adjacent properties, forming a grand 1514sq m mansion, with 13 bedrooms, 13 full bathrooms, and five half bathrooms.

In 2023, the historic and expansive property was sold at auction for US$15 million.

In 2023, Anka put his exquisite 723sq m home in Thousand Oaks, California’s Sherwood Country Club on the market for US$10 million.

Designed with entertainers in mind, it boasts a recording studio, a mirrored billiard room, a luxurious chef’s kitchen, five bedrooms, and six bathrooms.

Bob Dylan, an iconic American songwriter celebrated for 1960s classics like Blowin’ in the Wind and The Times They Are A-Changin’, has been a powerful voice in music, resonating with the era’s social movements.

With a career adorned with 10 Grammy awards, an Academy Award, a Pulitzer Prize, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Dylan has sold more than 145 million albums and performed in more than 3000 shows.

He has owned the majestic Aultmore House, located in Scotland’s Cairngorm National Park, for the past 17 years.

In 2023, Dylan put the property on the market for US$3.9 million, and it sold for US$5 million, surpassing the asking price.
