Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s New Orleans mansion hits the market

In a striking development in the property market, a historic mansion in New Orleans’ French Quarter, previously owned by celebrities Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, is slated for auction next month.

This notable 715sq m property, with a rich history dating back to the 1830s, was most recently valued at $3.475 million, according to Mansion Global.

However, the auction, orchestrated by Interluxe Auctions, will commence on December 11 with a starting bid of just $1 million.

The residence, known for its private and street-side balconies, offers a unique vantage point to observe the city’s renowned parades and festivities.

Beyond its architectural allure, the mansion boasts a significant pedigree of past residents, including Jolie and Pitt, who were its proprietors from 2006 until their separation in 2016.

Following them, the late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen acquired the property.

Furthermore, the residence once housed the studio of Cosimo Matassa, a pivotal figure in the R&B and early rock โ€™nโ€™ roll music scene.

In addition to its historical and cultural significance, the estate was recently celebrated as the winner of the national HGTV Ultimate House Hunt in the Downtown Dwellings category.

Scott Kirk, president and CEO of Interluxe Auctions, emphasised the estate’s unique blend of historical significance, modern amenities, and prime location as factors contributing to its extraordinary status.

Originally listed in September 2022 for $5.35 million, the mansion’s price underwent several reductions, eventually settling at its current valuation.

The most recent transaction for this property was recorded in 2020, when it sold for $3 million.

Details about the current seller were not disclosed.

The interior of the mansion reflects a modern aesthetic, featuring hardwood floors, high ceilings, expansive windows, Venetian plaster walls, a grand winding staircase, and marble-mantled fireplaces.

Comprising seven bedrooms, five bathrooms, two powder rooms, and a two-story guest house, the estate is equipped with a chefโ€™s kitchen, home gym, elevator, workshop, and a gated driveway with gas lamps.

Additionally, it includes a private courtyard with a pool and fountain, enhancing its appeal as a luxurious urban oasis.
