For Sunshine Coast agent Bradley Milton, the launch of his new business, Grace Estate Agency, is about far more than selling property.
It offers a way to give back after a life-changing event which rocked his family.
His aim is to help people with all their property needs, building a community in the process.
Bradley explains heโs been in the industry close to 20 years, having โfallenโ into sales after a career that spanned the military and then construction sector.
โI was in the military for 12 years, and then I went into the building trade, got my licence as a plumber and was doing full renovations of houses in Sydney,โ he says.
โBut a back injury put paid to that, so I went into sales and was pretty successful.โ
That sales experience saw Bradley offered a job in real estate and the rest, as they say, is history.
But it was a personal event seven years ago which really changed the trajectory of his career.
Bradley explains his wife, Maxine, suffered a brain bleed shortly after the birth of the coupleโs fourth child.
It was sudden, unexpected, and highly traumatic, requiring her to learn to walk and talk again.
โShe was unresponsive for seven minutes,โ Bradley notes.
โWeโre blessed my wife is even here, as she was not meant to survive.โ
The event saw the couple reassess their goals, with their primary focus now helping others.
โIt was a traumatic time, but on a spiritual level it was amazing,โ Bradley says.
โIt really crystalised whatโs important in life, and thatโs not necessarily working seven days a week, itโs about assisting others.โ
The coupleโs new business venture will be based on that philosophy.
Initially Grace Estate Agency will focus on helping people buy and sell property, but in the future will expand into property management at a time when the rental market in Queensland is notoriously tough.
โWe see real estate as a way to help people,โ Bradley says.
โItโs about putting people in contact with each other.โ
Ultimately, Bradley and Maxine hope to also purchase a large acreage property and create a safe place for those without suitable accommodation as part of a real estate approach thatโs all about building Grace communities.
Grace Estate Agency has been launched in partnership with the AgentsโAgency and services the thriving Sunshine Coast.
After looking at a number of other real estate models, Bradley said the AgentsโAgency was the obvious choice.
โThey were open and transparent, and it felt like family,โ he reflects.
โThat genuine ethos resonated with us as integrity and truth underpin the way we approach real estate.โ
As a member of the AgentsโAgency network, Grace Estate Agency will have access to a full suite of business support that ranges from back-of-house administration to trust accounting, marketing and ongoing training and mentoring.
Bradley notes this is an ideal support system for his new business, allowing him access to a proven model while still enabling him to run his business his way.
His approach to sales is all about openness and transparency.
For each listing he has, Bradley compiles a complete dossier about the property which is then provided
to prospective buyers.
โIf youโre looking after someoneโs greatest asset, you should know it as well as the owners do,โ he says.
โThis information then allows us to match the right buyers with the property and gives them the confidence to purchase.โ
And Bradley says heโs excited to start this new chapter of his career.
โWe want people to feel that dealing with us is like family,โ he reflects.
โWe fought hard to get into a position where we can help others and now that opportunity is here.โ
