Love may not cost a thing but Bennifer’s new mansion sure did

According to Dirt.com, the celebrity duo recently purchased a stunning property in the mountains above Beverly Hills for a whopping US$61 million in an all-cash deal.

The magnificent compound, nestled in the prestigious Benedict Canyon neighbourhood, had been on and off the market for the past five years, originally listed at an astounding US$135 million.

The main house, built around 2000 by a local developer, features a mansard roof and a neo-Palladian architectural style. Interestingly, the property has changed hands several times over the years.

It was initially sold for $11 million in 2002 to Alex Yemenidjian, the former CEO of MGM Studios. Yemenidjian then sold it for $14 million to Curtis Somoza, who was later convicted of running a Ponzi scheme.

Subsequently, the property was sold in 2007 for $16.8 million to a Korean businesswoman with a nursing home empire.

Throughout the following years, the house faced foreclosure and was frequently rented out for parties and short-term stays.

In 2015, a Saudi prince briefly resided there before being arrested for alleged sexual assaults committed on the premises.

In 2016, Gala Asher, a renowned high-end house developer, purchased the property for US$22 million and undertook an extensive contemporary renovation.

He also added a 464sq m sports complex with an indoor pickleball court, a lounge area, a gym, a boxing ring, and a two-bedroom guard house.

The compound boasts numerous luxury amenities, including a 10-car garage, space for an additional 80 cars, a covered entertainment pavilion with an outdoor kitchen, a 47m infinity pool, sprawling lawns, and an impressive 24 bathrooms.

With its discreet gated community and massive driveway gates, the property offers unparalleled privacy and security.

Gala Asher, the prolific Southern California developer, has gained fame for constructing opulent spec-mansions favored by celebrities and tycoons.

He has previously sold properties to the likes of Kylie Jenner, Kris Jenner, Tom Gores, and Steven Cohen.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, along with their blended family, are eager to settle into their new abode.

Affleck had sold his bachelor pad in Pacific Palisades for $28 million last year, while Lopez recently listed her Bel Air estate for $42 million.

The buyers were represented by Brett Lawyer at Carolwood Estates, while the listing was held by Ginger Glass of Compass.
