Looking back, moving forward: Dan Argent

As the Chief Energy Officer (yup, you read that right) at UrbanX, Dan Argent spent 2020 shifting the focus of his work from building his business, to helping the industry at large.

2020 has been a watershed year. There have been unexpected hurdles, times to check in on what really matters, to reassess our goals and look towards a hopeful future.

In the final issue of our magazine for 2020, we asked some of our industry leaders how they found the past year, and what they’re looking forward to in 2021.

2020 in one word?

Disruption.

Give us some highlights?

Our focus has expanded from growing our business to growing the industry.

With such monumental shifts in the way we work in a post-COVID world, we have a massive opportunity to be leaders in changing the status quo to empower real estate agents to work smarter and earn more.

What will you leave in 2020?

Trying to appeal to everyone. We know our content and ideas aren’t traditional by any standards.

We are now unapologetically authentic and don’t hold anything back trying to win over people that aren’t ready for our messages.

What worked for you in 2020?

Focusing on quality over quantity.

In the sea of sameness that the real estate industry sometimes finds itself in, we are always on the hunt for ‘purple cow’ tactics to enhance the brands of our partners.

What’s your focus for 2021?

Innovation. There are so many outdated systems and processes the industry uses just because it’s how it’s always been done.

We are constantly on the lookout for more efficient and effective ways of doing things.

If they don’t exist yet – it’s our aim to invent them.
