Jellis Craig hosted 350 clients, investors and developers at its bi-annual Property Event in Melbourne on Friday, with the group’s leadership sharing market insights and proprietary data on Victoria’s real estate outlook.

The event, themed “The Future of Real Estate in Victoria,” featured presentations from Nine News Finance Editor Chris Kohler, Cotality Head of Research Tim Lawless, and Jellis Craig CEO Andrew McCann.

Andrew participated in a fireside discussion on the “Property Pulse” – his observations from across the Jellis Craig network.

His key message centred on recent federal budget changes affecting negative gearing and capital gains on investment properties.

“There’s never been a better time to upgrade the primary place of residence,” Andrew said.

He pointed to Melbourne’s relative affordability compared with other states as a factor enabling buyers to secure appropriately sized homes.

Andrew said the event was designed to share the group’s insights with key stakeholders.

“One of our main points of difference is the proprietary data, sophisticated insights and reporting that we have access to, so it’s important for us to be able to share that knowledge with our clients and the people who drive so much success across our group,” he said.

“2025 was a record breaking year for us, and even though the Victorian market is facing headwinds we are still looking to build on that success by sharing our expertise with our clients and investors.”
