Auctioneer of the year chasing a record with the Good Friday Appeal home

Real Estate Institute of Victoriaโ€™s (REIV) 2023 Senior Auctioneer of the Year, Greg Brydon, will chase a record price when he calls the action for the property being sold as part of the Good Friday Appeal.

The 7-star, 38-square, two-storey, four-bedroom family home in Tarneit, is built by Henley Homes, with land donated by Villawood Properties and has the potential to fetch a record price.

The auctionโ€™s record is currently $1.082 million from 2022, while last year saw a sales price of $1.01 million.ย

Mr Brydon, from Ray White Cheltenham, said the prospect of calling the auction has left him filled with anticipation and enthusiasm.

โ€œIโ€™m a competitive man, so weโ€™re chasing records,โ€ Mr Brydon said.

โ€œIโ€™d love to see a record broken in 2024.

โ€œThis isnโ€™t just about a home, even though thereโ€™s a great family house and a whole community ready-made and waiting.โ€

The Good Friday Appeal raises funds to enable The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne to provide world-class care to children, with all proceeds going to the charity.

Mr Brydon said he has long known about the work that goes on at The Royal Childrenโ€™s Hospital, with his mother being a GP and his father a surgeon.

However, recently becoming a father has increased his appreciation for what it all means.

โ€œItโ€™s also a fantastic cause and the auction will be about giving people an understanding of where these funds will be going,โ€ Mr Brydon said.

โ€œTo be able to play just a small part on the day, is a real honour.

โ€œAs a keen bystander for many years, Iโ€™ve watched a number of my peers get the opportunity to call the auction, so I am really excited and humbled to be able to help.โ€

The expertise Mr Brydon brings to the auction is a key element to its engagement with bidders during the auction street party, which can draw up to 1000 people.

โ€œRealistically, Iโ€™ll be trying to make it all as fun as possible to all, and thatโ€™s including people who might not even be buying,โ€ he said.

โ€œItโ€™s all about creating an atmosphere, thatโ€™s very important.โ€

The home itself boasts luxury fittings and fixtures, professional landscaping, a grand master suite with two walk-in robes, and a spacious ensuite.

It also includes a generous study, which could be converted into a fifth bedroom, additional built-in storage, upstairs leisure located at the rear of the home, full access to the backyard with a rear roller door, sports surface and basketball ring in the backyard and all furniture and decorative pieces in the home.

Mr Brydon said his GFA Home Auction appointment was the greatest reward to come from winning the REIV Senior Auctioneer of the Year.

โ€œIt was an honour to be recognised as Senior Auctioneer of the Year in Victoria,โ€ he said.

โ€œItโ€™s a great recognition in itself but for me, the joy of being able to call the GFA auction that surpasses any personal accolade.โ€

REIV President Jacob Caine said REIV auctioneers were humbled and grateful to play a role in this fabulous initiative.ย

โ€œGreg has our full support and we will be barracking for a record breaking result,” he said

Henleyโ€™s 7-star masterpiece from its Mainvue Collection goes to auction on Good Friday, 29 March 2024.
