Michael King and Yang Cao join Melbourne Sotheby's International Realty

Michael King has joined Melbourne Sotheby’s International Realty as Senior Property Advisor, with Yang Cao appointed Luxury Sales Consultant.

Both will be based at the agency’s head office in Hawksburn Village, with the appointments adding to a team the brand says has grown steadily since it formally launched in Melbourne in November 2025.

Michael began his career in advertising and marketing before moving into real estate, where he has held Principal and Director positions at agencies including Sydney Sotheby’s International Realty (North).

He has worked across sophisticated Melbourne city residences, Victorian homes in the city’s prestige inner east, and coastal properties in Lorne and along the Surf Coast.

Yang’s career spans luxury brands Bvlgari, Gucci, Tesla and Collette Dinnigan, and she holds a Master’s degree in Luxury Management and Marketing from EMLYON Business School in France.

Her residential experience includes family homes and apartments in Stonnington, East Melbourne and Carlton. She is fluent in English and Mandarin.

Mitch Armstrong, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Projects at Melbourne Sotheby’s International Realty, said the pair strengthened the agency’s advisory capability.

Mitch said Michael’s transactional history spans top-end property in the city, the suburbs and on the coast, and that he believes a great result depends more on the property and the owner’s wishes than on the postcode.

“He is calm and clear in his advice, he handles complicated sales well, and he understands that selling a significant home is as much a personal decision as a financial one. Our clients get someone who is reliable and dependable, someone who has seen most situations before,” he said.

On Yang, Mitch said her communication skills set her apart.

“Yang’s ability to listen is a real superpower. She provides exceptional clarity and has exemplary communication skill,” he said. “Her years in luxury retail taught her what exceptional service looks like and that discretion is essential. She stays in touch with her clients well after settlement, and that is the kind of relationship we want every client of this business to have.”
