He moves to Knight Frank from JLL but has previously held long-term roles at LJ Hooker and CBRE.

Throughout his career, Mr Aroney has negotiated significant transactions including major commercial assets, development sites and landmark CBD buildings. His notable deals include 100 Harris Street in Pyrmont ($328 million), 59 Goulburn Street in Sydney ($270 million), 19 Harris Street in Pyrmont ($185 million), 210-220 George Street in Sydney ($160 million), and 139 Macquarie Street in Sydney ($132.95 million).

Knight Frank Head of Capital Markets Australia Michael Kwok said James’s appointment would strengthen the firm’s national Capital Markets capability.

“James’s deep experience across Sydney fringe, CBD, metropolitan markets and development sites, combined with his extensive network, makes him a strong addition to the team,” Mr Kwok said.

“He will play a key role in accelerating Knight Frank’s growth and his appointment will strengthen the firm’s offering to our clients in these key markets.

“James joins our team at an opportune time, with Capital Markets expected to recover further this year, and greater transactional activity forecast for 2026.”

Mr Aroney expressed enthusiasm about his new role at Knight Frank.

“I am thrilled to be joining Knight Frank, especially at a time when the market is poised for growth once again,” Mr Aroney said.

“My move to Knight Frank reflects a strategic decision to align with a firm whose culture, systems and vision strongly support my clients and the next phase of my career.

“I am looking forward to bringing my many years of specialist experience and long-standing client relationships to strengthen the already highly successful Knight Frank Capital Markets team.”
