Highland has appointed Michael Clay as Senior Site Acquisition Specialist, strengthening their team with his extensive expertise in property negotiation and land development.
With over 30 years of property experience, Mr Clay brings proven expertise in property negotiation, with a particular focus on land subdivisions for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
He also brings a deep understanding of zoning frameworks and land development potential, making him a valuable asset to both the team and their clients.
Highland CEO David Highland said the appointment comes at a strategic time for the company.
“We’re expanding our site acquisition team due to the high volume of landowners now ready to sell, and to capitalise on the more positive market cycle that’s on the horizon,” Mr Highland said.
The strategic move comes as councils and state governments across the state are actively rezoning key areas, creating opportunities for substantial value uplift across many regions.
Luke Barbuto, Head of Projects at Highland, emphasised the importance of this appointment in the current regulatory environment.
“We’re taking a proactive approach to the government’s new low- and mid-rise rezoning strategy. Having Michael on board only enhances the value we offer to our suite of developer clients,” Mr Barbuto said.
Mr Clay will be based between Highland’s Sutherland Shire and Double Bay offices, where he will lend his expertise in navigating planning regulations, managing complex negotiations, and driving projects from initial site sourcing through to successful acquisition.
