Barry Plant agents rally behind โ€˜Home For A Cureโ€™

Barry Plant Craigieburn's Romi Sleiman is returning for his second year to lead the sales campaign for the 2025 Home For A Cure, with all proceeds going to My Room Children's Cancer Charity.

For the second year running, Barry Plant Craigieburnโ€™s Romi Sleiman is lending his expertise to one of the most heartwarming real estate sales of the year, the 2025 Home For A Cure, with every cent of profit going to My Room Childrenโ€™s Cancer Charity.

โ€œThis is such a special cause to be involved in,โ€ Romi said.

โ€œReal estate can be glamorous, but itโ€™s important to give back to the community.

โ€œHaving the opportunity to do this for a second year in a row is incredibly rewarding. It feels like Iโ€™m making a difference in peopleโ€™s lives.โ€

The 2025 Home For A Cure is a stunning four-bedroom, five-bathroom Henley residence at 36 Pasilla Circuit, Mickleham.

This modern family home will go under the hammer at 11:00am on Saturday, September 6, 2025, as part of the My Room Grand Final Telethon, with all proceeds helping to support children battling cancer and their families.

Barry Plant is donating the sale campaign for the property, with the 412mยฒ block in Botanical Estate, generously provided by Satterley Property Group and the home built by Henley Homes.

The result is a striking double-storey residence, thoughtfully designed to deliver both comfort and style to its future owners.

Romi was introduced to the project last year by Barry Plant Taylors Lakes and St Albansโ€™ James Hatzimoisis, who will again serve as auctioneer for this yearโ€™s campaign.

For the past five years, James has been a driving force behind Home for a Cure, calling the auction and leading the marketing and sales entirely pro bono to ensure every dollar raised goes directly to vital cancer research.

โ€œI first became involved through My Room board members Margaret Zita OAM and Mary Kayalicos, who invited me to learn more about the charity. Hearing about their work and the difference they make really moved me,โ€ James said.

โ€œCancer touches so many lives, and Iโ€™m proud to have supported the Home for a Cure campaign over the past five years. Iโ€™ve encouraged others to get involved too, and itโ€™s inspiring to see so many people dedicate their time and energy to such an important cause โ€“ including Romi, who has now joined for the second year running,โ€ he said.

The 2024 Home for a Cure property sold for an incredible $1 million at the My Room Grand Final Spectacular, broadcast live from Crown Melbourne.

This year, James and Romi are aiming to raise the bar even higher for the charity.

โ€œLast year was my first time working with My Room, and it was truly inspiring. I loved having the chance to do something meaningful for the community, so Iโ€™m back again this year, managing all the opens and campaign work while Jimmy brings his trademark energy to auction day. Hopefully, together we can achieve another outstanding result โ€“ and surpass last yearโ€™s sale,โ€ Romi said.

The campaign has already drawn plenty of attention, with AFL stars Andrew McGrath from the Essendon Football Club and Will Day from the Hawthorn Football Club visiting the open home in their roles as My Room ambassadors.

โ€œItโ€™s fantastic to see high-profile sporting stars getting behind the Home For A Cure initiative. You can really feel the whole community rallying around this cause, and with that kind of support, Iโ€™m confident we can achieve another outstanding result and raise vital funds for childrenโ€™s cancer research,โ€ Romi said.

Barry Plant has proudly partnered with My Room Childrenโ€™s Cancer Charity for several years, with the network donating its time, resources and expertise to ensure the home achieves the best possible result on auction day.

Barry Plant CEO Lisa Pennell highlighted the importance of giving back to the community.

โ€œA successful real estate business relies on the support and connection of its community. Thatโ€™s why we believe itโ€™s our duty to give back, especially to such an important cause as finding a cure for childhood cancer. Our hearts go out to every family affected by this devastating disease, and we hope contributions like Romiโ€™s and Jimmyโ€™s can play even a small part in finding a cure,โ€ Lisa said.

The face of the 2025 Home For A Cure is the exceptionally brave Kruz, who, at just six years old, has endured more challenges than many face in a lifetime.

After a shock diagnosis of a rare form of leukemia, he has undergone intensive treatment, including a bone marrow transplant, and now looks ahead with hope to a new trial.

Kruzโ€™s story is a powerful reminder of why this initiative is so important, with proceeds from the sale helping to fund vital research and services that support children like him and their families through the toughest battles of their lives.

โ€œEvery dollar makes a real difference for kids like Kruz,โ€ Romi said.

โ€œBeing part of that fight, even in a small way, is a privilege. So if youโ€™re in the market for a new home this September, why not buy in Botanical and make a huge difference to an important cause?โ€

The auction will take place live on September 6, with all profits going to My Room Childrenโ€™s Cancer Charity.
