John Stamos’ former mansion lists for US$13 million after major reno

A grand Mediterranean-style mansion in Calabasas, once owned by Full House star John Stamos, has returned to the market for just under US$13 million (AUD $20,631 million) - more than 20 years after the actor sold it.

Stamos commissioned the home in 1992, during the peak of his fame, after purchasing the six-acre hillside property for US$430,000 (AUD $685,000) in 1991.

Mansion Global reported he lived there for nearly a decade, selling it in 2001 for US$2.15 million (AUD $3.38million).

Now fully transformed, the estate blends Hollywood history with modern luxury. Spanning over 8,100 square feet, the residence features seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms, including a vast 2,500-square-foot primary suite complete with vaulted ceilings, a sitting area with fireplace, wet bar, a black marble bathroom, and a dedicated “glam room” for hair and makeup.

The interiors now reflect a dramatic monochrome palette of black, white and gold. Book-matched Panda marble flooring runs throughout, and a 15-foot crystal chandelier hangs in the entry, setting the tone for a series of opulent living and entertaining spaces.

A two-sided fireplace anchors the formal lounge, while the bar room features black coffered ceilings and marble floors, offering seating for six.

Designed for entertaining, the home opens to a series of terraces and manicured gardens overlooking the Malibu Canyon.

Outside, the pool has been updated with a hot tub and grotto, and over 5,000 square feet of travertine tiling has been laid across the patios.

The estate also includes a detached guest suite with its own entrance and private outdoor area.

Large, gridless windows have been installed throughout the home to frame uninterrupted canyon and mountain views.

The property sits high enough above sea level that coastal fog often settles beneath it, creating what’s been described as a “waterfall of clouds” effect.

Originally built by a TV icon, and now comprehensively upgraded, the gated estate offers both Hollywood pedigree and contemporary comfort.

With more than six acres of land, the listing also suggests potential for further additions, including a helipad.

The property is represented by Alessandro Corona of Compass.
