Zillow launches ChatGPT plugin for seamless house hunting.

Buyers will no longer have to fall down the endless scroll hole when searching for a property in the US, with Zillow launching a game-changing plugin that will transform the house hunting experience.

The Zillow ChatGPT plugin is powered by the latest AI technology and allows buyers to search for properties using everyday language and by ‘chatting’ to the technology.

The plugin lets users ask questions about specific property listings or specify their preferences for homes they would like to buy or rent, including location, price range, and bedroom and bathroom count.

The AI then searches all of Zillow’s listings and delivers suitable properties back to the buyer in a matter of seconds.

Zillow Group Chief Technology Officer David Beitel said the plugin will only initially be available to a select number of ChatGPT users, but broader access is expected in the future.

“At Zillow, we’ve been at the forefront of using AI and machine learning, beginning with the Zestimate® in 2006 and, more recently, personalised recommendations and natural language search,” he said.

“As the first major residential real estate marketplace to bring advanced, AI-powered search to the home-shopping experience, we understand its immense potential, and we look forward to developing more tech innovations with OpenAI technology in the future.”

Mr Beitel said Zillow’s mission was to create a seamless, integrated experience for customers across all their real estate needs, from buying and selling to financing and renting.

Zillow ChatGPT is the latest example of how the company is using technology to make it easier for customers to find and get into their next home.

Zillow is building a housing super app that offers customers a seamless, connected experience across all their real estate needs: buying, selling, financing and renting.

It launched natural language search queries on its apps and sites in January, and AI capabilities show up throughout Zillow’s products and services, most recently in advancements in the neural Zestimate, computer-vision-powered rich media experiences and AI-generated immersive floor plans.

The Zillow ChatGPT plugin is currently in its alpha phase, providing an opportunity for Zillow to refine and enhance the experience based on user interactions.

OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, has implemented safeguards to minimise inaccuracies and prevent inappropriate responses, but users should keep in mind that at times the experience might not work exactly as expected.
