We Are Real Estate

Rob Ward: Stronger together

In the 18 years he’s risen through the ranks, DiJones agent Rob Ward has learned a few lessons – including that agents can achieve more together than they can independently

On getting into real estate
I was running a small web design business prior to REA and Domain portals becoming popular. One of my clients was a local real estate business and they hired me to implement new technologies in their company.

The happiest moment in my career
There have been many happy moments in my career, from starting my own franchise at 21, to franchise owner of the year in a major network, REB Top 100 agent two years running, and finally owning my own boutique network.

The most memorable moment
There have been many memorable sales, but not because of the properties. It’s more due to the relationships that have been built with clients that still last today.

Best advice he’s received
If you are not going to back yourself, then who will?

Biggest challenge
The biggest challenge for the industry is the expectation of change in the way we operate but the resistance to change. You can’t have one without the other.

Change for good?
The biggest change I would like to see is for the industry to recognise that we are stronger together than we are independently. Whilst competition between each other will always exist, if we continue to operate in silos we leave ourselves open to disruption.

‘Elite’ agent means
An elite agent is an agent who performs at their best, is passionate about continuous improvement, and has respect from their peers and competitors within the industry.

#WeAreRealEstate is a series of short interviews with 140 agents all over Australia, exploring the industry’s hopes, concerns, future challenges, and what it really means to be an Elite Agent.
