After working for eight years under a developer-turned-real estate agent, Paige Creedon took the leap to establish her own business two years ago, founding Creedon Property Group in Caboolture through @realty.
“I thought to myself, I’m paying them a large portion of my commission, but I was completely self-sufficient,” Paige says.
“I make all the decisions, so why aren’t I doing it for myself?”
Paige’s entry into real estate came through an unexpected connection.
While keeping her horse at a property, she met a neighbouring developer who recognised her potential.
“I used to drive him around for cash. He would go out for lunch with clients and have a few drinks, and I would pick him up and drive his car back,” Paige recalled.
“We just got talking over the years and he said, ‘You’d be really good at real estate. Do you want to get into it?'”
At the time, Paige was working at Wallace Bishop while also working in the horse industry.
The developer connected her with an office in Moreton Bay, where she began learning the business while completing her real estate certificate.
After about a year, she met another developer who became her boss for the next eight years before she ventured out on her own.
Specialising in development opportunities
Operating throughout the Moreton Bay region from Lawnton to Woodford and Glass House Mountains, Paige has carved out a niche in development properties.
“Having come from a development background, I do a lot of development with clients,” she says.
“My specialty areas are more rural residential or one-into-two lot sizes. I love that sort of stuff, and it’s quite easy because I know it quite well now.”
This expertise allows her to provide immediate value to clients with developable land.
“When I go to an appraisal of a two-acre property, I can say, ‘Have you thought about subdivision? I can help walk you through that process,'” Paige explained.
“That in turn creates more listings for me because I generally will help people subdivide and then get the resell on that property as well.”
A family business
Paige’s husband plays a vital role in their business success, handling all visual marketing aspects.
“He does all our videography, photography, and drone shots,” she says.
“Having that in-house means that we can supply that to our clients free of charge, which probably puts us a step above other agents in the area.”
The couple also brings personal renovation experience to their business, having completed 16 property flips in about six years.
“Renovations is a little bit of a skill of mine. If I go to a property and someone wants to do some work, I’ve got all the tradespeople,” Creedon said.
“We use the same people every single time, and we can help facilitate renovations on properties as well.”
The @realty advantage
When establishing her own business, Paige chose @realty for its flexibility and support structure.
“@realty gives you a lot of flexibility. I think they call it white label through them, which means that I don’t have any of their details on my marketing. I am essentially my own brand and my own company with the support from the head office team,” she explained.
“I use them for all of their systems, their CRM is very easy to use, their backend staff, they do all the invoicing. They just take all of the paperwork out of it.”
This arrangement allows Paige to focus on what she does best, listing and selling properties, while maintaining her independence.
“You only pay them a small percentage, and it’s capped as well, so that makes a big difference as I get to keep the majority of my commission,” she says.
“It’s essentially like if you were with another agency, you’ll pay your franchise fee, but we pay less to @realty.”
Freedom to provide personalised service
The flexibility of working with @realty has transformed how Paige operates her business, allowing her to provide more personalised service while maintaining work-life balance with her two young children.
“Not being stuck and chained to a nine-to-five office that a lot of the larger franchises will offer – you’ve got to be there five, six days a week with most of them – we have the flexibility where we don’t have to do that,” she says.
This flexibility, combined with lower overheads, allows Paige to offer more competitive commission structures while providing highly personalised service.
“Everything’s a little bit more personalised and tailored to that individual person and property and what they need and what they require, rather than cookie-cutter from an office,” she says.
