Leadership unpacked and top performers celebrated at RE/MAX Rally

RE/MAX Australia awarded its January to June 2018 top performers at its July Rally, held at the Victoria Park Golf Complex in Brisbane, where Franchise Director Joel Davoren said the number of new names in the top rankings showed the talent in the network’s growing platform.

RE/MAX Bayside Properties was named top sales office for both commission and transactions, and RE/MAX Ignite, in Brisbane’s River Hills, was awarded top office for both net and percentage growth in property management.

Lachlan Anderson from RE/MAX First on the Sunshine Coast was the top RE/MAX sales agent for the period, while RE/MAX Bayside Properties produced top sales teams in the Cleveland-based Neilson Team for commission and Team Gould from Alexandra Hills for transactions.

RE/MAX Australia brought more than 200 delegates together for a successful network event based around the theme of leadership.

Managing Director Michael Davoren opened the day with the question, “We were all born leaders; what happened then?”

He went on, “A true real estate professional has a unique opportunity to provide leadership both in their industry and in their community; and ‘leader’ is not restricted to the person who owns the business.

“Every person here has the potential to be a great leader, and that starts with being a great self-leader,” he added.

Mr Davoren said the Rally’s top program of speakers and panels was designed to bring a focus on leadership to RE/MAX members.

Michael Sheargold, undoubtedly one of the most well-recognised and respected thought leaders in the Australasian real estate landscape, was the first of two keynote speakers on the day.

Mr Sheargold has become a champion of change for the industry, helping transform the reputation and results of Australasian real estate professionals. The mission of the CEO of Australasia’s leading network of Independent real estate agencies, Real Estate Results Network, and founder of DRIVE Performance, is to empower entrepreneurial leaders with the confidence to make bold decisions and take bold actions to transform their business and their life.

Bruce Sullivan was the second speaker, and concluded the program in memorable fashion with his message of striving to be ‘Your BEST you!’

Managing his own businesses since his teens, Bruce Sullivan had established his own million-dollar network by age 24 and has an extended track record of working with a wide range of private and public organisations, both in Australia and overseas.

Able to combine a passion for facilitating personal and professional success with unique expertise in leadership development, more than 40 per cent of his work is the long-term development of leadership and culture. One hundred per cent of this work is generated through repeat and referral business.

RE/MAX Franchise Director Joel Davoren facilitated the ‘Leadership by Example’ Panel comprising Adam Gould, Tandi Gill and Tony Williamson.

Mr Gould, a RE/MAX Bayside Properties sales associate, is a lifelong resident of his market area and has forged a hugely successful real estate career in three years through leading the way in marketing, making every dollar count, being authentic and growing a team.

RE/MAX Advantage broker owner Tandi Gill shared aspects of her business success, including discipline, practice, positivity and resilience. She included focusing on self-leadership and having a mentor in her advice.

Tony Williamson‘s drive and vision has positioned RE/MAX Real Estate Services as a market leader in Cairns. He too believes in authenticity, along with ‘leadership by actions’ and being truly professional. Mr Williamson is renowned for ‘being on the field’ and always on his ‘A’ Game; good advice he shared with RE/MAX members.

In the session specifically tailored to the property management industry, Malcom Riley, a former REIQ Property Manager of the Year and 14-year member of the REIQ Property Management Committee, tackled the topic of property management mistakes that can be avoided. A qualified trainer and professional speaker for the past 15 years, Mr Riley’s work takes him across the world, including the United States and China.

Having pretty much weathered it all in 30 years of running his own successful property management business, he covered property management survival, dealing with conflict, managing growing pains, time management, improving job satisfaction and culture within the team, and more.

Paul Gaffney

The Rally program included edge-of-the-seat action with the 2018 RE/MAX Australia Auctioneer of the Year competition, where the three finalists gave it their all. It was entertainment and professionalism at its best, but Paul Gaffney from RE/MAX Executives, Holland Park, triumphed over Yianni Mooney, from RE/MAX First in Caloundra, and Greg Mulvihill, from RE/MAX Riverside at Graceville, to take the title.

RE/MAX Australia Professional Development Manager Melanie Marsh said, “The exceptional standard made it hard for the judges, and it seems the talent just keeps on getting better with each competition.”

RE/MAX Australia presented Make-A-Wish® Australia Business Development Manager Rhiahne Ralph with a cheque for $43,899, representing the previous 12 months of the network’s fundraising efforts.

The next RE/MAX Australia Rally and the Annual Awards Gala is on 14th February 2019.
