Embracing change and thriving during a crisis

Recent events regarding the COVID-19 virus have affected, and will continue to have an effect on the real estate industry moving into the future.

In this environment, we are already witnessing traditional services such as in-house dining being prohibited due to social distancing policy.

As many businesses fail to adapt they will unfortunately go to the wall.

Those businesses that prosper during a crisis tend to do so by employing an agile perspective which typically involves radically redefining core elements of their business.

Local Property Team is one of the businesses that is bucking emerging negative trends.

They had already embraced a flexible work-from-anywhere model and, when COVID-19 emerged, they were structured from an administration, leadership and technology perspective to deliver the safety of all team members and the community – as working from home was already seamless and problem-free.

Indeed, the Local Property Team sees the importance of a work/life balance as critical and anticipates, that in the future, workers will increasingly move to a work-from-home and or collaborative shared industry workspaces.

The Local Property Team notes this flexibility and innovative approach has served them well.

Lunched in July 2019 as a new startup business the group was founded by Brennan Hill following his departure from a major brand.

Over the past 12 months, they have seen nine agents join the team, five of those joining since the start of COVID.

This growth has led to the need to create a new collaborative workspace and training facility to be constructed on the Gold Coast with finance brokers, developers and agents from Local Property Team coming together to collaborate and deliver the solutions required to remain agile in the industry.

The new facility officially opened on Monday, August 24, establishing a space that can be used for many different purposes.

This space will be a hub that shies away from the routine 9-5 work day and incorporates technology to allow agents and team members globally to learn and collaborate, which is destined to inspire a new generation of real estate personnel.

“With the advance of cloud computing and offshoring, we have been able to deliver an offering to agents that creates flexible work environments and truly allow agents to move away from the traditional 9-5 while working remotely and being fully supported, which we believe is the future of real estate operations,” Mr Hill said.
