Hollywood actress Connie Britton and her partner, David E. Windsor, a writer/producer for This Is Us, have emerged as the winners of a bidding war for a stylish home in Santa Monica.
The couple bought the custom-built contemporary house for US$5.6 million, which was $600,000 over the asking price, The Dirt reports.
Records indicate that the couple shares a 50/50 stake in the property.
Built in 2016, the two-storey residence sits on a 743sq m block in a leafy part of Santa Monica.
The house was designed by Dub Studios for Larry Fitzgibbon, founder of Tastemade video network, and is hidden from the street, tucked behind a towering hedgerow.
The entrance features a custom front door made from exotic hardwood.
An open-concept main room features dedicated spaces for dining, lounging, sitting, and cooking.
The chef’s kitchen includes high-end Liebherr and Wolf appliances and an eat-in island and retro breakfast banquette.
There is a large private office just off the entrance that can also serve as the home’s fourth bedroom, according to the listing.
The upper level has three bedrooms, with the two smaller guest rooms sharing a single bathroom.
The lavish master suite takes up most of this upper level, with a walk-in closet, steam shower, soaking tub, and a private balcony with jasmine-filled planters.
The backyard has lush grassy lawns, an al fresco dining patio, drought-tolerant gardens, and high hedges for privacy.
Britton has been working in Los Angeles for almost three decades and has built a considerable real estate portfolio.
Apart from her new Santa Monica residence, she also owns a Mediterranean villa-style residence in LA’s Los Feliz area, a house in Austin, Texas, and a condo in Manhattan’s Nolita neighbourhood.
