Fashion designer Michael Kors has put his Fire Island compound on the market for US$6.25 million (A$8.75 million).
Michael and his husband, Lance Le Pere, purchased the 0.23-acre property for US$950,000 (A$1.33 million) in 2001 and the asking price represents more than a sixfold increase over 25 years.
The property sits on Water Island, a community of just 48 homes nestled between Fire Island Pines and Davis Park in New York State. The lot includes 200 feet of unobstructed Atlantic Ocean frontage.

In 2014, the couple enlisted architect Scott Bromley – best known for designing Studio 54 – to overhaul the property, according to Galerie Magazine.

The well-known designer drew inspiration from iconic escape destinations including California’s Big Sur, Utah’s Amangiri, and Parrot Cay, a private island resort in Turks & Caicos.

The compound comprises two structures totalling five bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and one partial bathroom.
The one-bedroom main house features cedar and teak woods, diffused light, white walls, spa-like bathing spaces, floor-to-ceiling windows, and sliding glass doors.

A four-bedroom, three-bathroom guest house on a neighbouring lot includes its own bar, sun decks, outdoor kitchen, and pool.

The property is listed with Meg Smith and Nate Larson of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty.
