Actor Josh Brolin is selling his gated Sandy Springs estate for just under US$5 million (AUD$7 million), citing a shift in work that’s pulling him back to the West Coast.
Josh, best known for playing Thanos in several Avengers films, bought the three-storey property with his wife Kathryn in 2020 for US$3.25 million (A$4.6 million).
The couple moved to Georgia to be near family and for film work in Atlanta – but as the city’s once-booming production scene has cooled, they’re moving on.
The 1.48-acre property in the Chastain Park neighbourhood near Buckhead includes a main residence and a detached two-storey guest house, with seven bedrooms and 12 bathrooms combined.
In a personal statement provided through listing agent Jacob Bean of Studio Housing Atlanta, and reported by Homes.com, Josh described their attachment to the home.
“We had family nearby, and we spent the time it took to not only update the house, but turn its insides into pieces of all the places we’ve travelled to: a little Atlanta there, a little Paris there, a little Ireland and New York and maybe even the countryside of Pennsylvania,” they said.
“We love art and we love books and the influences suggest it at 5000 Long Island Drive.”
The couple wouldn’t be selling if work wasn’t taking them elsewhere, they added.
The main home features vaulted ceilings, a private lounge, and a two-storey living room with a fireplace. A kitchen wing includes a walk-in pantry, laundry and secondary entrance, while a screened-in rotunda offers another fireplace and grilling space.
The basement houses a gym, custom sauna and cold plunge, with additional storage space that could be converted to living areas. The guest house offers independent living on each floor, each with its own kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.
Outside, a heated pool with waterfalls and a stone dive board sits on the deep lot. At the rear of the property, a hidden park is set back beneath a canopy of trees and bamboo.
“Even the rock pool with its cascading waterfall and stone protruding dive board – everything about it had to feel personal (or something we could attach a fictional romantic story to, at least in our minds),” Josh said. “It’s been easy to do there.”
When the couple weren’t in residence, the property rented for around US$40,000 per month (A$56,000) – primarily to celebrities and film industry professionals. With local production softening, the home went on the market in April 2026.
The furnishings and contents are available either with the house or in a separate transaction.
Josh, who also played former President George W. Bush in the 2008 film W and earned an Oscar nomination for Milk the same year, is the son of actor James Brolin and stepson of Barbra Streisand.
