Angela Duncan: The art of letting go

Angela Duncan knows first-hand that if you want to grow any type of business, you need to be able to find ways to fire yourself from the non-dollar-productive roles that are taking up all your time.

The Chairman’s Elite Agent from Ray White Aspley is one of the top performing agents in the country, closing 129 sales last year, but it wasn’t until she really started to “let go” and find more efficient ways of doing things that her business really exploded to the next level.

In this interview with Ray White Group Head of Performance and Recognition Bianca Denham, Angela explains how she was able to grow and develop a high-performing team that has quickly become one of the best in the country.

They also talk about how she started her career as a teenager and the path she took from a cadet to the Chairman’s Elite Agent and the most valuable lessons she’s learnt along the way.

If you’re looking to build a team so you can scale while maximising your time, then this interview is for you.

“I’m extremely ruthless on just focusing on what we call the ‘fun stuff’ – the vendors, the negotiations and putting out fires – beyond that, if it’s not something that is immediately dollar productive, it’s not on my table.” – Angela Duncan

Bianca and Angela also discuss:

  • Why you need to be a good boss and great leader first, so you can find consistency with staff to help drive your business forward
  • How to delegate effectively, but getting the right people in the right roles
  • The most effective way to get your team members to do what you need them to do to help grow your business.
  • Why you need to focus on dollar-productive activities and hand off everything else to your team.
  • How to manage time and staff effectively, now that the market has changed and slowed down from the higher volumes of the last few years.
  • The best way to manage your team as your top performers look to branch out on their own.
  • Why attitude and work ethic are the most important qualities to look for when trying to hire new team members.
