Andrew McCalman joins Besser+Co as Sales Manager & Licensed Estate Agent

Besser+Co has welcomed experienced Melbourne agent Andrew McCalman to the team, appointing him as Sales Manager and Licensed Estate Agent as the business continues to expand its sales footprint.

Mr McCalman, who has close to two decades of experience in residential real estate, said the decision to join Besser+Co was driven by the agency’s flexible, people-first approach and the leadership style of Founder Dion Besser.

“Every person is different, every agent is different, every house is different and I like that ability to be malleable in your work,” Mr McCalman said.

He said that Besser+Co’s structure allows agents to work in a way that best supports their individual goals rather than fitting into a conventional, rigid model.

“Dion has a really strong ability to step back and look at what’s happening on the court, what’s working, what’s not working, and what’s missing.

“If we add what’s missing into our industry, we get continual improvement, and I love that about his leadership.”

Great leadership empowers individuals to grow by fostering high-performance teamwork, where accountability, trust, and shared purpose drive collective success. Our brand fosters the individual’s success first.

“It’s not about blame. It’s about genuinely looking at what’s happening out there and improving together. That’s a rare trait in leadership, and it’s something I value deeply.”

In addition to listing and selling, a part of the profession he says he will “never walk away from”, Mr McCalman’s role will centre on shaping team performance, strengthening support systems and mentoring agents at all stages of their careers.

He said Besser+Co is already in the process of expanding with a mix of experienced operators and newcomers, with a view to building a skilled, collaborative sales team over the next 12 months.

“We want to be a team of great people, people who are coachable, who want to be successful, and who aren’t forced into a one-size-fits-all model,” he said.

“If someone wants to be a million-dollar writer, that’s great. If they don’t, that’s also fine. Our role is to tailor the path around each person’s personal and professional goals.*”

Mr McCalman said he is particularly looking forward to fostering a culture where every team member contributes their strengths, whether administrative, prospecting, sales or customer experience.

“None of us are experts in everything. Each person has something to contribute, and when you’re a real contribution to your workplace, culture naturally becomes strong. It becomes a place people genuinely enjoy coming to,” he said,

“My focus is to build a great team, support their growth and continue delivering exceptional service to clients.”
