Roy Rogers’ Hollywood home hits market for US$7.2 million

A piece of Hollywood history is up for grabs as Roy Rogers' former Los Angeles residence enters the market for the first time in over five decades with a US$7.2 million (AUD$11 million) price tag.

The legendary Western star purchased the Sherman Oaks property in 1944 during World War II, and it has remained with the same owners for 54 years, according to the New York Post.

Built in 1939, the 5,035-square-foot home maintains much of its original charm while offering luxury amenities according to the listing.

Listing agent Donovan Healy of Coldwell Banker said the property has 135 feet of ‘sweeping frontage’ on the avenue.

“The property commands both presence and privacy, elevated above the street and set behind gates,” Mr Healy said.

The two-story residence features four bedrooms and five bathrooms, with the listing calling it “the most significant offering to hit the market in years.”

A long driveway leads to a four-car attached garage and spacious front lawn.

Inside, the home showcases period details including dark hardwood floors, white crown moulding, and a foyer with patterned wallpaper.

The formal living room offers multiple seating areas and a wood-burning fireplace, while the den features wall-to-wall wood panelling with built-in bookshelves and a second fireplace.

The kitchen combines functionality with vintage appeal, featuring black tile floors and light blue and white striped wallpaper.

A centre island provides additional storage and cooking space, with an informal dining area connected to the kitchen offering direct access to the backyard.

For entertaining, the home includes a formal dining room with dark hardwood floors and light green walls adorned with white wainscoting.

A sunroom with red carpeting and wood-panelled walls provides additional living space with multiple floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors.

The upper level houses a luxurious primary bedroom and two guest suites, with a fourth bedroom located on the main level.

The property’s outdoor spaces are equally impressive, featuring a circular cement courtyard with red benches and an outdoor kitchen.
