A $65 million master planned community on Queenland’s Fraser Coast will provide residents with access to one of the first ‘airparks’ in the country.
Buyers at Aquila Estate & Flying Club will have access to private runways, airspace, hangars and world-class amenities.
Launched by Fraser Coast Regional Council Mayor George Seymour this week, the estate and flying club, will have an 850m asphalt runway, a grassed runway, access to ‘open’ airspace, shared hangars and boasts plenty of appeal for the 16,000 private light aircraft and helicopter owners across Australia.
The consortia behind the project is VRF Developments, and spokesman Justin Miller said the idea behind Aquila Estate & Flying Club was to showcase the airpark concept to the Australian market.
“Our focus with the Aquila Estate & Flying Club is to bring to the Australian market a benchmark project when it comes to the concept of an airpark that is comparable to what are considered the market leading sites in the United States; with the goal being to show what can be achieved from a design and lifestyle perspective,” Mr Miller said.
“We project that only 40 per cent of residents will be pilots with access to their own personal plane or helicopters, however the lifestyle, location and amenities on offer will be attractive to all buyers whether they intend to live there permanently or have it as a holiday home.
“What makes it even more thrilling for us is the fact that our project is situated so close to Hervey Bay, providing residents access to the incredible natural amenities close by including K’Gari/Fraser Island.”
The estate, in Yengarie just outside of Maryborough, features 62 blocks of land ranging in size from 2400sq m to 4000sq m.
The estate is spread across 50ha and will feature architecturally designed homes and a fully-equipped clubhouse.
Land prices start at $315,000 and 13 sites have already sold.
The estate has building governance on what type of homes can be built, to protect the value of the properties and the estate overall.
Only daytime flying will be permitted and the site was selected due to pilots being able to fly without going into controlled airspace.
This means a pilot does not need clearance prior to embarking on a flight.
“Today moves us one step closer to bringing our vision to life to show how, with the right level of planning, we put the runway as the centrepiece of the estate – while also showcasing that there is a market in Australia for this type of development,” Mr Miller said.
