Paul Tzamalis wins 2024 REIV Senior Auctioneer of the Year

Experienced auctioneer, Paul Tzamalis, has taken out the 2024 REIV Senior Auctioneer of the Year title and will now head to the national championships in Hobart.

The Announcement:

The Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) congratulates Paul Tzamalis, of The Auction Company, on winning its annual Senior Auctioneering Competition this week, taking home the title of REIV Senior Auctioneer of the Year for the second time.
ย
The REIV awarded the title to Mr Tzamalis following the two-day competition, which saw the stateโ€™s most talented auctioneers display their skills in front of an independent panel of judges by calling a simulated auction.
ย
Luke Banitsiotis of Woodards Blackburn was awarded runner-up.

Other finalists included Anthony Molinaro of Oโ€™Brien Real Estate Blackburn, Tim Solly of The Auction Company, and Kenneth Kong of Ray White Burwood.
ย
Both Mr Tzamalis and Mr Banitsiotis will represent Victoria at the Australasian Real Estate Institutesโ€™ Auctioneering Championships, held on May 15-16 in Hobart.

Mr Tzamalis will also have the special honor of calling the annual Good Friday Appeal Charity House Auction in 2025.

REIV President, Jacob Caine, congratulated him for winning the title for a second year.

โ€œPaulโ€™s captivating auctioneering style perfectly balances energy, professionalism and warmth,” Mr Caine said.

“Paulโ€™s first victory came in 2022 and he has once again proven that his ability to keep bidders engaged and competitive goes unmatched.

โ€œCongratulations to all finalists for their leading performance throughout the competition, and we commend them on the training theyโ€™ve undertaken to reach this point in their career.

“Victorian vendors are in safe hands.โ€

Interim REIV CEO Megan Mander said the competition presented a unique opportunity for the stateโ€™s best auctioneers to be recognised.

โ€œThe Senior Auctioneering Competition is a great opportunity for Victorian auctioneers, and many competitors say itโ€™s one of the most challenging auctions theyโ€™ve called,” Ms Mander said.

“Whereas auctioneers are so used to watching bidders compete, this competition pits them against their peers, pushing them to the next level.

And every year, we see the standards raised.โ€
