Only 30 auctions expected this week for Melbourne

Auction activity has taken a hit across the combined capital cities this week, as Melbourne enters its fifth week of Stage 4 lockdowns.

The city will hold only 30 auctions, down from 765 auctions this time last week.

CoreLogic are tracking 937 auctions in total across the capital cities this week, down from both last week’s 1128 and the 1533 from this time last year.

This week is set to be the lowest number of auctions held over a week in Melbourne, outside of the early January period or Easter.

Comparatively, there are 676 Sydney homes scheduled for auction this week, down from 706 last week, but a lot higher than the 528 held a year ago.

This week-on-week drop in Sydney is just a blip though; the number of auctions held across the city has been consistently trending upward since mid-May.

Elsewhere there will be 80 auctions in Canberra, 65 in Brisbane, 64 in Adelaide, 18 in Perth, and just four in Tasmania.
