American real estate company Douglas Elliman is expanding into Texas and it’s bringing some big guns with it, including Million Dollar Listing fan favourite Frederik Eklund.
Mr Eklund has starred in Million Dollar Listing New York since its inception and also joined the cast of the Los Angeles incarnation of the show last year.
He will be joined by some familiar faces from Million Dollar Listing in Texas, with Julia Spillman and John Gomes also making the move to the Lone Star State.
The trio were all recent winners of the 2021 ICON Award from Douglas Elliman.
Douglas Elliman Real Estate is one of the largest independent residential real estate brokerages in the US.
The firm also has a strategic global alliance with London-based Knight Frank Residential for business in worldwide luxury markets.
According to the company’s CEO Jacob Sudhoff, they are opening new offices and teams in Dallas and Austin to meet growing demand from the prestige market.
“The luxury residential market is booming,” Mr Sudhoff, said, describing the entrance into the Austin and Dallas markets as a natural fit.
Mr Eklund, a co-founder of The Eklund | Gomes Team alongside John Gomes, said he was proud to be entering the market with Douglas Elliman’s support.
“Texas is the most exciting market in the country right now, with buyers from California, New York and Florida relocating here,” he said.
“We are looking forward to making real estate history with our new colleagues.”
As part of the expansion, Douglas Elliman will open a unique Houston brokerage office and said it would be structured similarly to an Apple Store Genius Bar.
In addition to operating in Houston, Douglas Elliman Real Estate will now be servicing resale, condominium sales, rentals, corporate relocation, and builder sales in Austin and Dallas.
The company is the only national brokerage with an exclusive condominium sales division in Texas, with more than $2.9 billion in new projects in the pipeline within Texas.
There’s no word on whether the move means there will be another Million Dollar Listing spin-off, but watch this space.
