The expansion, according to Charlie Clemons and Shaun Broadbent, the principals of McGrath South Yarra, was a significant accomplishment for the company and would give the team an opportunity to grow following the hardships of the pandemic.
McGrath South Yarra has announced plans to expand through Melbourne’s Inner East as it joins forces with Hayden Melbourne, an agency with a near 100-year legacy in Victoria.
The merged business will operate as McGrath South Yarra, managing a combined rent-roll of 1,500 properties and consolidating an expanded sales team across the Stonnington and Boroondara markets and will be managed by a team of 10.
McGrath South Yarra’s principals Charlie Clemons and Shaun Broadbent said the expansion was a major milestone for the agency and will provide the team a platform to grow after the challenges of the pandemic.
“McGrath South Yarra opened on the eve of COVID-19,” said Mr Clemons. “We navigated through the disruption, building-up a loyal base of sellers and investors in the process.
“With these challenges behind us, we are now in growth mode and strategically engaging with the wider Stonnington area. By scaling-up with a larger team of experienced sales agents and property managers who are supported by real estate’s best tech, marketing tools and training, we’re taking the McGrath offering to more sellers and investors in Melbourne’s Inner East.”
McGrath’s Head of Franchise Chris Mourd said Hayden Melbourne’s commitment to McGrath South Yarra was advantageous to the office’s vision for expansion and growth. “Hayden Melbourne has a history dating back to 1928. Its service and values have supported sellers and rental providers through decades of economic challenges and market changes,” he said.
“They’re proud of the long-standing relationships they share with their clients which, in some instances, extend over many years. Jonathan Hayden is very much respected, having been at the helm of that business for over 28 years and has assembled a young dynamic team who will transition across to McGrath with him.
“Choosing McGrath for the next chapter of their longstanding history is a major vote of confidence in the innovative solutions we’re providing real estate professionals and their clients.”
Mr Broadbent, who leads McGrath South Yarra’s property management division, said: “The reception from investors to the new partnership has been overwhelmingly positive”.
“We’re excited for our expanded team of property managers and leasing specialists to utilise the tools that make service to investors more efficiently, optimising their investments in the process.”
The combined teams will operate out of McGrath’s South Yarra location at 111 Toorak Road, South Yarra.
