McGrath consolidates its presence on Queensland/NSW border

The three businesses can now work together cohesively to cover the central and southern Gold Coast markets right through to Pottsville on the Tweed Coast and inland to Murwillumbah.

The Announcement:

McGrath Estate Agents today announced that its franchise operation across Queensland’s Palm Beach region and New South Wales’s Tweed Coast has had a restructure that enhances their local business operation.

McGrath Palm Beach managing partner Billy Jaz has joined forces with longterm McGrath Tweed Coast/Tweed Coolangatta franchise partners Chris Holt, Kelly Holt and Kelly Annakin. The merge also includes key partners Josh Willatt and Andy Hogarth.

McGrath’s Head of Franchise Chris Mourd welcomed this new structure. “The merge of our successful coastal businesses is a win-win. It makes good sense for our clients to know we cover the wider border region and for our agents to work closer together to serve them,” he said. “This regional market is one of the most sought-after of coastal areas following a post- COVID shift benefitting from interstate migration. These agent teams are geographically and culturally aligned; and I’m confident they will thrive together for the benefit of both vendors and buyers.”

Josh Willatt said the merge had the strategic aim of achieving a greater market share.

“Our three businesses can now work together cohesively to cover the central and southern Gold Coast markets right through to Pottsville on the Tweed Coast and inland to Murwillumbah,” he said.

“The goals are to drive growth within our teams and to increase our reach in what we consider very important and aspirational lifestyle areas of the Coast.”

Longtime McGrath sales manager and lead agent in the Tweed Coast and Tweed/Coolangatta offices, Chris Holt, said the region offers great buying when compared to surrounding areas.

“It is popular both with retirees and younger families,” he confirmed. “We have great medical facilities here and a new hospital underway at Kingscliff.”

Mr Holt said the excellent educational options including private schools, attracts young families to the area. “We are so fortunate to have great beaches, beautiful river systems and the airport right on our doorstep. These factors drive the market and greatly impact the Tweed market and its ability to attract many buyers to the area,” he explained. “We don’thave an oversupply of properties either. To the contrary, there are hardly any new properties available.”

The Tweed Coast and Palm Beach Property Market

Prices in the region have continued in an upward trend over the past few years. In Kingscliff, the median house price has increased 15.9 per cent in the past year and now sits at $2 million.*

Palm Beach houses have seen a 10.7 per cent rise to a $1.55 million median while the value of Pottsville houses has soared by 20.8 per cent in the past 12 months to reach a median price of $1,449,000. Inland at Murwillumbah, the median price has risen by 9.7 per cent to $822,500.

Recent Sales in the area by the team include:
41 Golden Valley Road, Tallebudgera Valley – $3.51 million 11 Rayles Lane, Terranora – $2.575 million
18 McPhail Ave, Kingscliff – $2 million

The newly merged businesses with a staff of 39 including four of McGrath’s Top 10 Queensland/Tweed performers, (Billy Jaz, Chris Holt, Josh Willatt and Andy Hogarth) will continue to work with local clients and with buyers migrating from Sydney and Melbourne.
