McConnell Bourn shores up future with capital injection and new appointments

Sydney North Shore-based real estate agency McConnell Bourn this week demonstrated its confidence in the local residential property market by announcing a major financial investment and new appointments.

The announcement, made to the 50-strong agency team at a specially convened off-site meeting, includes two strategic senior board level appointments along with the financial investment strategy.

Bobby Ivanoff, whose career has included senior executive responsibilities that spanned Australia, Asia Pacific, Japan and North America, joins the group as Chief Operating Officer.

After working for 13 years in corporate, Mr Ivanoff set up two small businesses, where he offered strategic consulting, including business planning, sales strategy and development and took on advisory roles.

In his new role at MB, Mr Ivanoff will take charge of the operational side of the business to allow Managing Director and co-founder Matthew Bourn to be more engaged with mentoring the agency’s sale division.

“The time is absolutely perfect to streamline the day-to-day business processes and operation, introduce time-saving IT technology that will allow our people to be more focused, productive and client-centric,” Mr Ivanoff said.

Ross Smith, who has a background in international brand management and communication, marketing and sales, assumed the role of Non-Executive Chairman on February 1.

Mr Smith has more than 20 years’ experience in the residential property sector and has worked with many of Australia’s leading real estate firms.

He said he was excited to be joining the organisation at a time when there were clear opportunities to build on the firm’s positive reputation gained over the past 20 years, and expand market share across the North Shore.

Innovations were also revealed in brand marketing and digital communications, along with plans to open further offices in 2021.

Co-Founder and Marketing Director Samantha Bourn said she and Matthew Bourn believed they now had the right people with the right skills mix at board level “to help shape an exciting and rewarding future for the MB team”.

She said MB wanted to redefine the home selling and buying experience and appointing people outside of the traditional real estate agency model would help the company reshape its future.

McConnell Bourn was founded in 2000 by Matthew and Samantha Bourn with the aim of providing a boutique experience with an enhanced level of attention to clients.

“Now, our task is to expand our footprint and present McConnell Bourn to a wider audience,” Ms Bourn said.
