Harcourts network auctions to raise funds for Orange Sky

Harcourts offices across Australia and New Zealand will take part in a coordinated summer auction campaign called Your Day, with the Australian component directing $100 from every eligible sale to Orange Sky through the Harcourts Foundation.

The campaign runs from 25 January to 7 February 2027.

Orange Sky provides free laundry and shower services, along with conversation and connection, to people experiencing homelessness and hardship.

Harcourts Head of Auctions Australia Kobe Rae said the campaign paired a coordinated auction event with a contribution to a community organisation.

“Auctions are about bringing people together to create opportunities, and Your Day takes that idea a little further. It gives our participating offices a coordinated campaign to get behind, while also creating a way for every Australian sale to contribute to something meaningful,” Kobe said.

“We’re proud that the campaign can deliver opportunities for buyers and sellers while supporting the important work of Orange Sky.”

Orange Sky CEO and Co-Founder Lucas Patchett said demand for the charity’s services had grown.

“We continue to see more and more people reach out to Orange Sky for support,”

Lucas said. “This increase is coming from families, retirees, students, and people who are currently employed. Australians are doing it really tough right now, and no one deserves to go without the essentials of clean clothes, a hot shower, and a safe place to connect.”

“We value building strong connections with local communities, and through the Harcourts Foundation ‘Your Day’ partnership, Orange Sky will be able to reach more people who need a helping hand – or simply a friendly face to chat to.”

Harcourts Foundation Head Pauline Smith said the partnership gave the network a way to turn sales into support.

“The Harcourts Foundation is proud to support organisations like Orange Sky that are responding to real needs in the community,”

Pauline said. “Through Your Day, our network has an opportunity to turn successful property sales into practical support, helping Orange Sky reach more people who need it. It’s a meaningful way for our offices to contribute to the communities they work in.”

Elsewhere in the network, a local initiative has also been raising money for charity.

Jessica Melling, Property Manager at Harcourts Property Hub, started a Halloween display at her Mudgeeraba home five years ago so her young nephew, who was too scared to trick-or-treat, wouldn’t miss out.

The first year drew around 10 visitors.

This Halloween, Sugarglider Lane had become a neighbourhood event, with Jessica and her helpers handing out more than 1,200 lolly bags in a couple of hours, backed by another 13 houses in the street.

“We honestly lost count of how many additional lollies we gave away. We even had another 30kg of lollies as backup!” Jessica said.

Jessica registered the event through Hallo-Wish this year in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, raising $500 online and a further $650 in cash donations on the day, bringing the total to $1,150.

“It’s a huge amount of work, and I’m lucky to have an amazing group of friends and my husband who get dragged into helping me every year,” she said.

“But seeing thousands of people enjoying themselves and the community coming together makes it all worthwhile.

“It’s certainly grown beyond anything I ever imagined when I first put up those Halloween decorations for my nephew!”
