Martin Short expands his LA property portfolio

Renowned actor and comedian Martin Short has expanded his property holdings with the acquisition of a US$2.2 million residence in the Brentwood neighbourhood of Upper Mandeville Canyon, Los Angeles.

Already the owner of a primary home in Pacific Palisades, Short managed to secure the property below its initial March listing price of about US$2.4 million, according to the Robb Report.

The newly purchased home, constructed in the early 1960s and recently renovated to reflect a modern aesthetic, stands on nearly three-quarters of an acre.

The property features a distinctive all-white exterior, accented by a bridge and shared driveway leading to an attached two-car garage.

Inside, the split-level house encompasses over 167sq m of living space, including four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Key interior features include hardwood floors, wood-beam ceilings, and sliding glass doors that open to various outdoor lounging and entertainment areas.

The living room has a corner fireplace with a marble surround, and the layout includes a spacious dining room and a kitchen equipped with contemporary stainless appliances.

The home’s private outdoor space is designed for relaxation and entertainment, featuring a seated bar, a fire-pit conversation area, and a seasonal waterfall.

Additionally, there is a freeform swimming pool and spa surrounded by a grassy sundeck.

A detached studio apartment on the property offers a kitchenette and bathroom, providing additional private living space.

Short, a 74-year-old Canadian native, gained fame through his iconic characters and sketch comedy on shows like SCTV and Saturday Night Live.

His extensive career includes roles in popular films such as Three Amigos! and Father of the Bride, as well as Broadway productions like The Goodbye Girl and Little Me, the latter earning him a Tony Award.

The transaction for Shortโ€™s new home was facilitated by Robin Walpert of Sothebyโ€™s International Realty/Pacific Palisades Brokerage, with Max Marguleas and Anthony Marguleas of Amalfi Estates representing the buyer.
