LJ Hooker International Awards recognises top performer Jamie Giokaris and inducts Matthew Herbert into Hall of Fame

LJ Hooker and Harveys has recognised its leading agents across Australia and New Zealand at their International Awards, held last week on Hamilton Island.

Jamie Giokaris, Principal of LJ Hooker Lithgow, was awarded the esteemed Sir Leslie Hooker accolade.

The award recognises the business owner who creates a thriving office culture, is a leader within the group, gives back to the local community and provides support and leadership in the LJ Hooker network.

Mr Giokaris commenced his real estate career with LJ Hooker Lithgow in 1992, becoming a partner of the business in 2003 and the sole owner in 2010.

“It’s an absolute honour. I feel humbled and honoured to receive it,” Mr Giokaris said.

“I’ve been part of the LJ Hooker family for 26 years, so I’m well qualified to say it’s absolutely amazing.

“The brand is as strong as ever and I’m proud to be a business owner with such a great, iconic Australian brand. I think we’re going to have great times ahead, especially with what’s been developed across our digital platforms.”

Graeme Hyde, Network Chief of LJ Hooker, said Mr Giokaris had shown great dedication to his work and the LJ Hooker brand.

“Jamie is someone that gives back tirelessly to the network, happily opens his office to anyone who wishes to visit and is happy to share his philosophy on customers and how he’s built an enviable business.”

LJ Hooker Canberra Group’s Matthew Herbert was inducted into the Hall of Fame after more than 37 years with the brand.

Mr Herbert heads up the LJ Hooker Canberra City, Dickson, Gungahlin, Kaleen, Kippax, Weston Creek, Woden, Project Marketing ACT and Tuggeranong offices.

He began his career in the industry in 1981 by joining the family business at LJ Hooker Belconnen as a property manager.

Within two years he had moved to the sales environment, enjoying instant success, and then to an ownership role in 1984. From 1986 to 1989, Mr Herbert played an integral role in the opening of offices in Kippax and Kaleen, before moving to open the Dickson office in 1990. Since then he has gone on to open a number of other offices across the ACT.

“It is an honour to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. I have always enjoyed being a part of the LJ Hooker family and I am grateful to be recognised in this capacity.

“I want to thank my team for all their hard work and the broader LJ Hooker brand for their support over the years.”

Mr Hyde said that LJ Hooker was thrilled to induct Mr Herbert into the Hall of Fame.

“Matt is a once-in-a-generation real estate mentor, leader and thought provoker who has not only stood the test of time through resilience and hard work but has helped shape the careers of hundreds of agents.

“Matt’s been a significant factor that has helped shape LJ Hooker into the powerhouse it is today, especially in the ACT, and we’re proud to induct him into our Hall of Fame,” Mr Hyde said.
