LJ Hooker Foundation donates $150,000 to those in need

The LJ Hooker Foundation has donated almost $150,000 to charities in 2021.

The Announcement:

The LJ Hooker Foundation is proud to announce it has donated almost $150,000 to help those in need in 2021, including charities Humpty Dumpty Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Australia and Lifeline Australia.

The LJ Hooker Foundation, which has raised more than $8.5 million since inception, helps the LJ Hooker Group’s offices engage with their local communities and boost social impact.

LJ Hooker Foundation spokesperson, Sarah Dickson, said every LJ Hooker office is committed to the local communities in which they live and work.

“Whether that’s running local fundraising and donation drives for LJ Hooker Foundation to lending marquees for community events, and everything in between, it’s about putting people at the centre of what they do and strengthening their ties in their community.

“At our Atlas by LJ Hooker offices, a percentage of every sale made by an agent is contributed to the Atlas Community Fund, within LJ Hooker Foundation, which helps Atlas make a tangible difference to the communities it services.

For LJ Hooker Foundation’s primary charity partner, the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, 17 pieces of equipment were donated to Paediatric Wards, Neonatal Units, Maternity and Emergency Departments in hospitals across Australia.

Some of this equipment was funded by charity auctions at LJ Hooker’s annual Night of the Stars awards nights that were able to be held face-to-face in QLD, WA and SA. The auctions raised $30,900.

At Cystic Fibrosis Australia (CFA), which the LJ Hooker network has partnered with for over 28 years, the LJ Hooker Foundation helped fund the Australian Cystic Fibrosis Digital Conference and its ‘Consumer Connect’ platform.

“Due to the risk of cross-infection, it is not possible for the CF community to benefit from face-to-face meetings, but technology is finding a way,” Ms Dickson said.

“Consumer Connect allows the CF community to connect in real-time through two-way live stream conversations, meaning people can chat and not feel isolated.”

Lifeline Australia became an official charity partner in September for 2021/2022.

“After two of the most challenging years in recent history, Lifeline Australia’s 24-hour crisis hotline became a critical connection of those struggling during continued Covid lockdowns, isolation and business closures. We were proud to be able to give them additional assistance this year,” Ms Dickson said.

A benefit for fundraising under the LJ Hooker Foundation is the safeguards it provides to LJ Hooker Group offices.

Ms Dickson said a little-known fact regarding fundraising is that NSW Fair Trading, and its counterparts in most states and territories, requires offices to have an ‘authority to fundraise’ when they appeal to their community for funds.

“The LJ Hooker Foundation holds these authorities for them so when they use its customisable collateral and donations portal it ensures offices are compliant.”

The LJ Hooker Foundation is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit Commission.
