Jacinta Purvis: Determination, grit and bravery

Caring deeply about her clients’ outcomes is what put First National Bathurst agent Jacinta Purvis in Top 10

On getting into real estate
My husband and I relocated to Bathurst from Sydney after having children to be closer to family. An opportunity arose to enter real estate. With our skill set we thought we could transfer across to the real estate industry.

The happiest moment in my career
Being awarded the top 10 sales agents in Australia’s First National Network last year.

The most memorable moment
I had the opportunity to sell a property “Highfield” and I felt honoured to represent the family during the sale.

Best advice she’s received
Chris Hanley First National Byron Bay spoke to us recently about the term “SISU”, a Finnish concept describing determination, grit and bravery. I am fortunate to have many First National members who I can talk to openly. The above describes the most successful and I reflect upon this often.

Biggest challenge
Our industry has and always will have disruptions. I encourage all agents to become the trusted advisor of their area. I encourage continued education. Become a specialist in your area.

Change for good?
I would like to see the industry recognised for its professionals. I support the introduction of a degree qualification for our industry.

‘Elite’ agent means
An elite agent has a greater vision, a greater purpose than what they are doing today. They are always people-focused. I have not met any who do not care deeply about their clients’ outcomes.

#WeAreRealEstate is a series of short interviews with 140 agents all over Australia, exploring the industry’s hopes, concerns, future challenges, and what it really means to be an Elite Agent.
