Actor Christian Slater is preparing to part with his home of almost a decade, with the Mediterranean-style Miami villa now on the market for a modest US$3.95 million.
According to Dirt, the Heathers and Interview with a Vampire star bought the Coconut Grove property back in 2013.
Although it’s hardly a high price for the celebrity property, Slater stands to pocket US$1.7 million from the sale, after purchasing the home for US$2.21 million.
At the time he was engaged to his now wife Brittany Lopez.
The pair now have a toddler together, with Dirt speculating the family might be seeking additional space.
Located on a quiet cul-de-sac, “Villa Dolce far Niente” is represented by real estate agents Liz Hogan and Charles Celesia of Compass.
The Mediterranean-inspired home is a 30-minute drive from South Beach and was built in 1928.
Comprising three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, plus a detached guesthouse, the home spans 1000sq m and features white stucco walls along with a red-tiled roof.
It is privately set behind wooden gates and hidden by a garden of lush tropical plantings.
The villa comes complete with a pool, formal lounge and dining areas, a lengthy sun porch, and relaxed rooftop entertaining area.
The marble-floored kitchen includes a breakfast nook and butler’s pantry, while the ‘service wing’ is completed by a laundry room and a powder room for guests.
Inside, the home features a palette of white walls and wheat-coloured narrow-strip hardwood floors that are complemented by classic-style furnishings.
Dirt notes over recent years Slater has shunned the trappings of Hollywood life and his home-town New York, making Coconut Grove his full-time home.
But over the years prior, the actor had properties in various other locations, including a waterfront cabin in Maine, a two-bedroom condo in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen, and a 2000sq m traditional in LA’s tony Brentwood area.
Where he and his family are off to next remains unknown, but he has a series of acting projects in the pipeline, including a film written by Zoë Kravitz, and a TV mini-series.
