LJ Hooker’s Shine Conference aims to ‘shine’ a light on the great work property managers undertake within the industry.
The Announcement:
They are the quiet achievers of the property industry and now a sold-out national conference tour by LJ Hooker has ensured Property Managers also know they are valued.
After a turbulent two years of dealing with the fall-out of the pandemic, the national event, called ‘Shine’, aims to share practical strategies for dealing with stress and building resilience in this important and ever-changing sector.
The conference is the brainchild of Nick Georges, LJ Hooker’s Head of Property Management, who felt – even before Covid-19 – a special event was needed to ‘shine’ a light on the great work within the industry.
“Property management professionals on the ground can feel overlooked but they are the backbone of our group and the entire real estate industry,” Mr Georges said.
“I want them to know that they are part of something bigger and an integral part of the LJ Hooker Group. The conference has always been a goal of mine and now – more than ever – PMs need to receive recognition and build on the skills they have gained during the pandemic.
“It has been a tough couple of years dealing with issues such as rent relief, while the recent floods have brought more grief with the shortage of tradespeople and uninhabitable properties. So it has been great to bring PMs together, to share stories and to let them know they are not alone.”
The conferences have already been held in Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney, Perth and Melbourne. The final event is planned for Adelaide on June 17. In total, more than 400 Property Managers will have attended the event.
Stacie Sheldrick, Business Development Manager, from LJ Hooker Canberra City, said her team had already begun implementing some strategies from the conference. She admits some of her PMs were initially reluctant to attend but found the event to be uplifting.
“We took so much from it and it was a great way to relate to both the LJ Hooker Group and other Property Managers,” Ms Sheldrick said.
“It was very comforting to learn that we are all in the same boat, especially in these times. It was perfect timing. They just nailed it on the topics and it really gave the whole team a boost.”
Mr Georges has been inundated with positive feedback which has made him determined to make the ‘Shine’ conference even bigger and better for next year.
“When you are organising something like this, you are hopeful that people will turn up and take something away from it, but the response across the board has been wonderful,” he said.
“People have been sending us messages and thanking us for putting it on – it has been very rewarding.”
