Google Calendar now helps users keep track of goals

If you have a goal this year, there is good news – Google Calendar now includes a goals app that help you on your way.

Goals was a piece of functionality introduced late last year to help users find the time to carry out their fitness regime daily as it allows one to connect Google Fit and Apple Health onto Google calendar.

“When you do, activity in your favourite fitness apps will be recorded and used to mark your goals in Google Calendar as “done” automatically,” Google’s Product Manager Florian Goerisch wrote in a blog post last Friday.

“For example, goals like “running three times a week,” could be set on the Google calendar and rest assured users would be able to find the time to carry out their fitness plan with the app,” Goerisch explained.

And when the unexpected comes up, Goals helps users adjust by automatically rescheduling the event that is in direct conflict with the goal.

“With this integration, future goal times will be even more tailored based on when you’re most likely to complete them,” he said.

“Say you set a goal to run at 6:30 every other morning but aren’t hitting your stride until 7:15 — Google Calendar has you covered and will adjust accordingly.”

Goerisch said the new and improved Google Calendar helps users keep track of their activities and performance by finding the best time to do them as well, but it’s not just about fitness goals, it can be other goals including building skills, more me time, spending time with friends and family. (And yes, prospecting calls too.)
