Ellen DeGeneres re-lists historic LA home at a discount after move to the UK

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have re-listed one of their last Los Angeles properties for $29.99 million (AUD $45.4 million), marking a significant price reduction from its previous listing of $33.9 million (AUD $51.4 million).

According to Realtor.com, this comes as the couple transitions away from the US, following their permanent move to the UK in late 2024.

Known for their high-profile real estate ventures, the couple initially purchased the property in November 2022 for $29 million (AUD $43.9 million), intending to flip it for a quick profit.

Designed by renowned architect Richard Neutra in 1955, the Bel Air home, known as โ€œThe Brown House,โ€ is an iconic example of mid-century modern design.

โ€œOriginally crafted in 1955 by the renowned Richard Neutra, [the house] stands as a quintessential architectural masterpiece nestled in the prestigious enclave of Bel Air,โ€ reads the listing on Zillow.com.

Ms DeGeneres and Ms de Rossi invested in extensive renovations to restore Neutraโ€™s vision while adding modern amenities.

The five-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom home features sweeping views of Los Angeles, two state-of-the-art kitchens, and spacious living areas designed for entertaining.

Realtor.com reported this re-listing follows the coupleโ€™s sale of other high-value properties, including a $96 million (AUD $145.6 million) estate in Carpinteria in August 2024 and a Montecito mansion sold for $32 million (AUD $48.5 million) in February 2024.

Their Montecito home, initially listed for $46.5 million (AUD $70.5 million), was another example of their willingness to adjust prices to secure a sale.
