The luxurious Palm Springs vacation home previously owned by the late British-born actress Dame Elizabeth Taylor is now on the market.
This Coachella Valley retreat, known as “Casa Elizabeth,” is listed for just under US$5 million and is located in the desert city’s Old Las Palmas neighbourhood.
The house was initially built in 2001 and purchased by Taylor in 2004 for $1.4 million, according to the Robb Report.
Taylor’s close friend Kathy Ireland, a supermodel-turned-entrepreneur, was later enlisted to design the home.
She also contributed to a recent remodel, updating the space and adding modern touches.
The property was subsequently bought by Fred Bin, CEO of Westlake Village-based real estate company Zoom Casa, in March this year for nearly $3.8 million.
Resting on over half an acre, this low-slung structure offers more than 390sq m of single-level living space.
Features include four bedrooms and five bathrooms, an entry foyer leading to an open-concept great room, and floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening onto a scenic pool area with breathtaking views of the San Jacinto Mountains.
The heart of the home is the spacious living area, adorned with a fireplace encased in a slat-wood accent wall.
This flows seamlessly into an outdoor terrace, perfect for al fresco dining, complete with barbecue, refrigerator, sink, and seated bar.
The adjacent dining area is connected to a modern kitchen, equipped with sleek wood cabinetry and high-end appliances.
Two primary suites are tucked away, each boasting spa-inspired baths with dual vanities, soaking tubs, and walk-in showers.
Both bathrooms provide access to the secluded, palm tree-laced grounds, accentuated by a waterfall-fed pool, sundeck, and open-air cabana.
In addition to the home’s luxurious features, an attached three-car garage adds convenience and functionality.
The property represents part of Taylor’s enduring legacy. Besides her celebrated film career, including roles in National Velvet and Cleopatra, Taylor was renowned for her philanthropy, especially her fight against HIV/AIDS.
Sandra Upchurch, of Signature Real Estate Group, is overseeing the listing.
