For eighth-generation Maroochydore farmer Peter Wise, the perfect home required a very specific viewpoint.
When he custom-built his Buderim home in 2010, he deliberately positioned the five-bedroom, three-bathroom estate on the town’s tightly held north-eastern escarpment for one primary reason: so he could keep an eye on his farm from the house.
Following his passing in 2024, the deeply personal estate is now heading to auction on 2 July as his widow, Ivy, who is now in her 80s, prepares to downsize.
Peter’s devotion to his land was legendary. According to the Wise family, he was so dedicated to his work that they could rarely convince him to step away, even for a quick smoko break. The strategic positioning of the home allowed him to maintain a constant connection to his life’s work right from the property.
Marketing agent Jacob Hussey of Ray White Mooloolaba notes that the home stands as a testament to a lifetime of love for the area, offering a rare opportunity to secure a deeply personal piece of local history.

That singular obsession with sightlines produced something remarkable. The 3,005 sqm property commands completely uninterrupted panoramic views stretching from Alexandra Headland to Mount Ninderry – views the family says can never be built out.

“The home features an open plan layout with a butler’s kitchen, a private little nook where mum used to hide away, and a dedicated office space that was so incredibly important to dad,” daughter Kylie Wise said.

A fully self-contained lower level, complete with its own private driveway, single garage, kitchen, and living area, offers multi-generational flexibility or rental income potential.
The expansive block also provides drivable access to the lower portion, with potential to subdivide or construct a secondary dwelling, subject to council approval.

Sustainability credentials are strong: solar power, solar hot water, and seven large water tanks.
“We have hosted so many wonderful family Christmas and Easter celebrations on the large expansive veranda, enjoying the full panoramic views that are visible from every single room – even the lower level,” Kylie said.
