Former Youi chief lists $7m Paddington home for sea change

Frank Costigan, the former CEO of Youi and QBE, has listed his Paddington home for auction as he prepares to retire to the Sunshine Coast with his husband Alec and their twin 10-year-old sons.

The double-block property at 30–34 Stephen Street is going under the hammer on October 9 with a price guide of $7 million, through Alexander Phillips of Ray White Phillips & Co.

Frank bought the site from the developer in 2009, when it comprised five separate terraces.

It has since been transformed into a pavilion-style residence with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and double garaging, set behind a heritage facade on a 12-metre frontage opposite Gugara Park.

The family kept the house when they relocated to Queensland during Frank’s time at Youi, and later renovated it into the home it is today.

“I bought the house with the heritage facade, so it looks old from the outside and it’s so modern inside,” he said.

“The house has been wonderful for the boys too, because they love the park over the road. The boys and their friends love the big outdoor space, and then they come home and crash in the cinema room and watch a movie.

“It has been a wonderful family home. We’ve had lots of great parties here over the years, christenings, summer family barbecues and lots of visitors.”

The family bought a house on the Sunshine Coast 18 months ago in anticipation of the move, and plan to relocate permanently once the Paddington property sells, with the move timed for December.

“We know the Sunshine Coast, and we can’t wait to move back,” he said. “My parents used to live there, and we’ve always loved Noosa. For us the time is right, I’m retired now, and life is short, as they say, so it’s time for our sea change.”

The auction is set for October 9, with a buyer’s guide of $7 million. View the listing here.
