Two Young Guns Appointed Into Top Positions at Allard Shelton

Melbourne-based commercial real estate firm, Allard Shelton has appointed James Gregson and Michael Ryan as its executive director effective immediately.

They will join Allard Shelton from Fitzroys, bringing with them more than 13 and 15 years’ experience, respectively in the commercial property space.

Allard Shelton director, Joseph Walton, said the appointments were part of an effort undertaken by the company to attract and retain younger talent to drive growth.

Both men are joining the firm as equity partners.

“Allard Shelton has a mature pedigree in the Victorian market, but we recognise the need to change and bring in a new generation to drive future commercial success,” Walton said.

“As a way of competing against the more generic global brands in property, which sometimes misses the local nuances in market trends and negotiation, we have been actively pursuing positive succession planning and wanted to introduce fresh talent, interested in taking equity in the business, and who understood our vision and goals.”

“We found that, despite Gen Ys being entrepreneurial and agile, they don’t necessarily have the opportunity of owning a business, and our ability to offer a stake in the company provides a strong incentive.”

Gregson and Ryan will be in charge with assisting in the development of the businesses sales function.

With the market providing sound opportunities for investors this year, the duo’s immediate priorities will be consolidating the systems currently in place to continue growing both investment and development sales throughout inner Melbourne.

“I’m privileged to join a business which has been around for more than 130 years and has great respect within the industry. With a proven success over a long time, it provides a fantastic platform for us to build and expand on the sales side of the business,” Gregson said.

While Ryan predicts there will be continued movement of funds into real estate and believed the prospects for the firm looked robust in the coming days.
