On getting into real estate
I was dragged from inspection to inspection as a kid, then through display home after display home when parents decided to knock down and rebuild. I got to see a lot of property in my early years. In my mid 20s I was sick of the retail environment of working harder for no extra return or recognition and, having thought I was too young to try real estate in my early 20s, I decided to give it a go.
The happiest moment in my career
Whenever I have gotten a deal across the line, saved my clients a tonne of stress (or money). Recently I was bidding at auction for a couple where one was in an airport about to board their flight, the other was somewhere on the other side of the world. When the hammer fell and I rang to tell them they’d got it, it was amazing to hear how happy they were. When the wife got emotional saying “oh my god, I look like I’m crazy crying in the airport” I said, “lucky I’m wearing sunnies, you’re getting me emotional too!”
The most memorable moment
When I was in sales many years ago, I sold the home of a couple who had been there for 60 years. They’d built it, brought up their family there and it had finally become too much work for them. The last days before settlement were extremely emotional but at the same time rewarding as I had helped them buy their next place and saved them thousands as well.
Best advice he’s received
If you love your job, you will never work a day.
Biggest challenge
Restrictive lending practices are hurting the industry dramatically. When the average buyer can’t access finance something is wrong.
Change for good?
Less ego and more cooperation.

Someone that has a consistent and constant flow of business that is self-generating, nurtures not nags people, but still has their feet on the ground.
