It’s been 29 years since Scott Inglis and Nils Turner first worked together at Century 21.
The pair, who have 69 combined years of experience and numerous awards, have now reunited to open Century 21 Southern Gold Coast.
The new office officially opened on July 1, servicing the Burleigh Heads to Tweed Heads area.
The duo sought to join forces as they shared the same business values and career goals – dedication, hard work and commitment to customer service, fueled by attention to detail.ย
โBy combining our skill sets and motivation at this stage of our lives, it allows us to create a dynamic listing machine,โ Scott told Elite Agent.
โOur goal is to become the number one auction listing office in Century 21 in Queensland.โ
The experienced duo see Century 21 as the support system they need to succeed, combining their wealth of experience with the franchiseโs strong backend and business nous.
And within the first two days of opening, the office has already sold two properties and pre-listed four auctions for the month of July.
The early years
The pair first worked together at Combined Real Estate in 1992 in the Blue Mountains under Century 21 Chairman Charles Tarbey, before each took a different path.
Scott relocated to the central west of New South Wales (NSW), starting an independent agency. He eventually worked with a different franchise group but always had the gnawing feeling it wasnโt the perfect fit.
After going it alone once again, as Inglis Prestige Mobile Marketing Agent, Scott decided to give himself a โlife breakโ and travelled around Australia, flipping several properties.
Meanwhile, multiple award-winning agent Nils was also seeking a lifestyle change, heading north and settling in Currumbin Waters on the Gold Coast, where he started Coast Creek Country Realty.
Joining forces to become a powerhouse
The two former colleagues stayed in contact over the years before fortuitously catching up at the โperfectโ time.
โI hadnโt decided what I was going to do. Was I going to do another flip? Where was I going to settle down? I wasnโt sure,โ Scott explained.
โNils was getting to the stage where he had enough of doing it the way he was doing it. He was ready for a change or a semi-retirement.
โOver a couple of lunches, we hatched a plan of โwhy donโt we just join forces?โ Seeing as weโre just two old dudes in our mid-50s, we decided to join forces and create a powerhouse.โ
The perfect fit
The independent Coast Creek Country Realty brand has now combined with Century 21 to create the franchiseโs first agency on the southern Gold Coast.ย
Of course, it wasnโt only the familiar connection with long-time colleague Charles Tarbey that led Scott and Nils to โjoin forcesโ with Century 21.
โThe brand has an exceptional back end as far as business structure,โ Scott said.
โItโs supportive of building a strong business on a very strong foundation. That foundation being their backend systems and support. It was just a natural choice for us. It all fits together really nicely.
โFar East Queensland is well known as being the fastest-growing region in Australia so it just made sense to combine one of the fastest evolving real estate groups into this area.โ
The opening of this office on the southern end of the Gold Coast comes off the back of a successful six months for Century 21, who have launched eight new offices and are expecting to see at least that same amount open in the second half of 2021.
A thriving market
Scott, who has only been based on the Gold Coast since late February this year, has already seen firsthand how quickly the market is picking up pace.
โIโm in my 50s; Iโve been in real estate a long time. I personally believe it has always been lifestyle-driven and affordability-driven, compared to other densely-populated parts of the country,โ Scott said.
โSeeing the buyers come through, every time you go to an open and you speak to people who are new to the area they say โweโre coming for lifestyle, we want to be near the beachโ. They say all those things and we hear it time and time again.โ
