REIQ announces new board directors at AGM

The REIQ today announced two new Board Directors, elected under the newly reserved positions for a Female Regional Member Director and a Young Director (Under-35), following its Annual General Meeting at the Cannon Hill offices.

The two successful candidates are Linda Bland (Female Regional Director) and Joshua Kindred (Young Director).

The REIQ Board of Directors:

  • John Newlands
  • Damien Keyes (Regional Director)
  • Linda Bland (Regional Female Director)
  • Joshua Kindred (Young Director)
  • Mark Brimble
  • Anita Brown (Non-member Director)
  • Julie Boyd (Non-member Director and re-appointed as Deputy Chair)
  • Eddie Chung (Non-member Director)

Rob Honeycombe is the outgoing Board Director, leaving after serving on the Board for nine years, four of those as Chair.

REIQ CEO Antonia Mercorella thanked Mr Honeycombe for his guidance and support during his time on the Board.

“Rob has given many years of service to the REIQ, championing the cause for greater representation of women and young people at every level of the organisation; advocating for our members and the needs of the profession at the highest levels of government; pushing us to challenge ourselves and ensure the best ideas win the day,” she said.

“He has overseen some of the most significant changes in the REIQ’s history and the members have been the beneficiaries.”

Incoming Director Josh Kindred said he was looking forward to making a contribution at the Board table. Mr Kindred has served as the Redcliffe Zone Chair for almost four years and has provided leadership and direction, supporting the REIQ’s goals in this region.

Linda Bland has served on the REIQ Board of Directors for four years. This will be her second term. A commercial real estate agent from Hervey Bay, Ms Bland has represented the regional members with commitment and dedication.

REIQ Chairman Peter Brewer, who was re-appointed as Chair in a vote of the Board at the first ordinary meeting today, congratulated the incoming directors.

“I look forward to working with Linda and Josh to further the goals of the REIQ and I know they will bring vision and enthusiasm to their roles.

“I’m sure the entire Board is now looking forward to implementing our exciting new strategic plan over the next three years,” he said.

Julie Boyd was re-appointed as Deputy Chair.
